this is now making me so sad, because my mom just told me that 'people like us' (what does that mean????) have informal showers with everyone wearing informal clothes. umm...WHAT???

i know what she means, cuz my mom would probably say something similar...(although im sure for my shower my moms gonna get dressed up...) but regardless....Even if my shower was in a backyard, or ANYWHERE and people came in POTATO SACKS i'd still wanna be dressed up in a beautiful dress like that!!

I really like the dress its adorable and perfect for a shower, but I think it is too long on the model. If you get it (and I think you should!) you should take it up and have it hit 1-2 inches above your knee.

well i dont know you or your family, so don't take any of this as an assumption or generalization, but I know from seeing my mom here and there with planning the shower (cuz its a surprise, i know nothing) she is VERY self conscious about her decisions....she's worried that I have these HUGE expectations of what my shower should be, and we're not rich, she'spaying for the wedding as it is, but I know shes putting lots of pressure on herself to give me a gorgeous shower...which is not necessary, i appreciate all of her effort and anything she does for me...

soooooo if ur in a similar type of situation (your family doesnt necessarily have a lot of money, or your mom tends to get anxious about possibly letting u down by not giving you your dream shower) maybe she saw that dress, got worried like 'omg she wants this fancy dress, but i cant afford a shower to match that dress!!' she may jus be defending her emotions by saying that and trying to play off that she feels that way...

hopefully u followed...i have NO IDEA if thats ur case, but i know that my moms already eluded to the fact that she hopes im not disappointed when i get to my shower (she makes me sound like some prissy demanding entitled girl which im so not!!)

that isn't my issue though. in fact, it's possible it's the opposite and that she is trying to say something like it is 'gauche' to have a fancy shower. if so, seriously, WTH???
