So here's what happened...

So here's what happened...

My friend got engaged last week. I've been engaged since October. She and I are not bridesmaids in each others weddings but we've gone on vaca together once. Went to HS together etc... we're not super super close but we're def. good friends.... she wants to book her wedding the Saturday after mine. Which in theory would be the day I fly home from my honeymoon, unless we go 2 weeks later. Should I be cool with this? I can't decide if I should be upset or not.

Um Id be kinda upset about it to be honest, not to fuel your fire or anything. I am assuming you will be invited to her wedding and she will be invited to yours. I would be happy though that she is doing it the week after and not before since guests that are invited to both might feel inconvenienced. Will you have a lot of the same guests? Plus, if you fly back from your honeymoon that day, how would you go to her wedding?

well.... I figure this.

If her wedding is at night- obviously not going to the church....if we get off the ship ( cruise ) by 10am flight from Miami around noon - 2pm which would get us home by 5pm latest.... run home... shower.... change get to reception by 7:30- 8pm?

Is could work but man what a pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH

go for the reception. u can def do it. youre young and have energy. and theres no jet lag, which is also good. i fly to florida all the time on day trips.. when my flights are on schedule im soo relaxed. just home there arent any delays. if there are, then def explain to her the situation. even if u dont go, i assume youll be cutting her a check? this way if u dont showup, u def covered your plate so she cant get mad at ya

Plus now I need to make sure our showers aren't on the same days too.... or at least tell my friends to tell her sister etc....

I wouldn't get too upset; sometimes people just have a particular date that they love, and it's important to get married on that day. There's only so many Saturdays/Sundays/days in specific months/etc.

I think you can make it work :)

I agree. If you can make it work then try. You don't have to go to the church and if you are a little late it will be OK. Since it sounds like you have a lot of mutual friends, everyone will be really excited to see you after your HM. Plus you'll be nice and tan!

It could be worse, she could get married the week before you.

This is exactly what almost happened to me almost a week ago.

Here's the thing I totally was upset and I can totally understand why you would be upset. Unfortunately, the thing is, everyone is allowed to do and book whenever you want and as much as I totally understand your point, there's nothing you can really do. See the way I see it, if you say something you risk losing a friend.

sorry lady

Don't stress over it. I totally see how you can be mad but if she insists on that date then what can you do!!

That's ridiculous... she knew when your wedding was. Don't plan your honeymoon around her wedding. I wouldn't plan my wedding a weekend after anyone I was friends with, it just doesn't make sense. If you feel like you'll be up to going to her wedding when you get back from you honeymoon then RSVP yes but if not, oh well. She can't expect you to get off a plane and rush around to get to her wedding.

ITA... if you're good friends, I think you could swing it. It is a pain in the a$$, but you'll be sporting a fresh tan and be able to talk about how great your wedding and honeymoon the week before. If you can do it, do it. Otherwise, I wouldn't suggest changing the honeymoon plans. Your date and wedding were planned already. She's well aware of this, she prob just had her heart set on that date.

Definitely do not change your honeymoon because of this. With that being said, I think you should attempt to make it to her wedding. If it can't be done, I'm sure she'll understand. Think of it this way...you'll just be back from your honeymoon and you'll be so excited to share how wonderful it was with everyone!

Re: So here's what happened...

No she didn't have to have a specific date in mind..... she just wanted the spring. April pricing is significantly less than May. Her sister wanted to plan it for the day after mine.... April 10th. I am willing to bet that this was the only Saturday left at WM for her to book.

::sigh::

I'm gonna be tired and tan but I'm gonna try to get to that wedding.
Now she better not punk out on my wedding cuz she's too stressed or whatever.

I told my friend that I was gonna do everything in my power to be there!

Least I get to keep partying after my honeymoon week is over.

I wouldn't go out of my way for someone who booked their wedding one week after mine. It seems like you're trying to bend over backwards for her, when she didn't consider you.
