Re: So how many of us are in grad school?

I finished my Master's last spring, and start a doctoral program this June. I actually like school a lot better than working, but I did the Master's part time while working full time and the doctoral program will be part time as well.

I am - Queens College for psychological counseling.

How does everyone else handle that, working full time and the wedding? I could use some tips for next semester (3 classes )

I'm currently in my fourth year of a doctoral program in school-clinical child psychology at Pace University.

Planning during grad school was really tough, but we had a long engagement (2 years and 2 months), which really helped, because I got a lot done on my breaks.

I tried to do all of my school work at night during the week, around night classes (I was also able to take some online, which was great). I even did homework during my lunch breaks to leave more time free on the weekends. This left weekends free for wedding appointments/planning, etc. I was able to graduate in May (having taken summer classes during 2 summers) and got married in November, so I was taking 3 classes a semester during the planning parts while working full time, but then didn't have to worry about missing classes for the HM. Good luck!

I did that..I worked full time in NYC and planned my wedding and went to school at CW Post..My only tip is take it slow. I took no more than 2 classes a semester..most of the times only one class..it took me a while longer to complete the program, but I didn't go too crazy.

I almost killed myself last summer...I took 2 summer classes during the same session (because I had to finish up my classes before moving to NJ) and had to finish up my planning for my wedding in Sept. The classes were only 5 weeks long..Mon thru Thursday.. It was ABSOLUTELY dreadful!!

Thanks! I think I'm going to need it . We postponed the honeymoon until June so I didn't miss 2 weeks of school. It'll suck April 5th when I'm back at work but it will be a wonderful semester end gift!

What are you getting your doctorate in? I'm becoming more and more certain that this will be my next step as well.

My doctorate will be in Education Administration. I work in a college, and know that I want to continue in education, but at the college level you really need a doctorate before becoming a dean/provost/president, etc. Good luck!

I am. 2 more classes until I am finished getting my MS in Human Resource Mgmt.

Doing schoolwork on lunch breaks really helped free up time for wedding planning on the weekends. I also doubled up on summer classes right before the wedding so I didn't have to take a class the semester of my wedding and could spend that time planning and enjoying.

I started in Sept at dowling college. I want to switch to a school that offers birth-K special education masters programs. Since I am only certified in 1-6. Does anyone know of a college that does that?

I finished this past spring. It was rough working fulltime and going to school but it is worth it! Keep plugging away and good luck!
