So, I am actually 'hosting' Thanksgiving

for me, dh, and MIL. I am happy that it's small, b/c though I am fairly confident in my kitchen skills, I've never done the whole Thanksgiving dinner before.

so, I decided to do it 'my' way.

menu, so far
dinner:
stuffed roasted turkey breast
mushroom risotto
creamed cauliflower
sweet potato casserole
corn
something green
cranberry sauce (thank you Janie! it'sMY fav)

dessert:
apple raisin torta
pumpkin pots de creme

I had to bring it down to my level...didn't feel like 'trussing' a 10 pund turkey.

fun! looks like a great menu.

we are hosting too.

But my mom (she lives upstairs, we have a mother-daughter home) is making the turkey and most of the other stuff. I am making vegetable cornucopias, veggie gravy and tofurkey. And for desert - vegan chocolate dream pie.

I bought a festive table cloth (I am pretty excited over the dumb tablecloth) and I am going to use my fancy china. Plus my new furniture comes tomorrow morning. I feel like a grown up.

I can't wait to host a holiday dinner - maybe next year if we get a house!

by all means..

just keep in mind, I cannot digest broccoli and I hate lima beans and brussel sprouts.

anything else is cool with me!

Jessiquita...I would love nothing more than to be there...chowing down ALL the SPC! I'm a sweet potato whore!!

But Ant's fam arrived last night. So it will be a Happy Thanksgiving down here after all.

ETA: I vote for green bean casserole. With almonds and buttah.

Mmmmmmmmm, sounds yummy Jess!!!!!!!! You might just have a few extra guests pop in!!!!!

For the green thing, my vote is for creamed spinach since that was what I went with on yesterday's 'fave veggie' thread.
