so, my name is Jessica. and although it's a popular name, the reason I was named it may not be so. My mom loves rock and rockabilly music. One of her favorite songs is Jessica by the Allmann Brothers Band. so, that is why my name is Jessica. my mom was 17, smoke, drank...was a wild child and loved rock music LOL.

she picked an instrumental...and said she always knew I would write my own story.

The story behind my name Qiana

My dad wanted to name me after my mom Diana. My mom said no it was her name and her name only. She did not want a Diana Jr. They compromised for the first and last time in their life together and came up with the name Qiana. Qiana was a name of a fabric back in the 70's.

I'm named Christine.....b/c:

I was born on Christmas Eve, and mom originally wanted to name me Carol or Noel, but dad didn't approve, so they ended up with CHRISTINE.

I have no story for my first name (they liked the name, named me that name, end of story), but my middle name...

Is my dad's grandma's and my mom's grandma's names combined (Mary + Theresa).

my dad named me behind my mother's back after a friend's child.

lame as that is, my mom wanted to name me something i personally find heinous....but since it's the name of a popular LIW member, i will refrain from mentioning it.

so my dad did 2 things right in his life: me, my name.

My name is the result of my mom being a major follower -- it was insanely popular in 1979.

Seriously, there was a LOT of drama behind my name thanks to my paternal nonna - and as a result, obviously, I'm not named after her.

so here is the story behind my name, it is not an original story bc there are millions of italians everywhere who have this story.
sister- named after paternal grandma
brother- named after maternal grandpa
me- named after maternal grandma

*so when my mom was pregnant with me my dad's mother ( who was a crazy italian lady) decided that my mom could NOT name me after HER mother and here is why.

My nonna (dad's mom) is Concettina. . .so my sister is named Concettina BUT since we are in AMERICA everyone called her Tina. . . so my grandmother decided that meant that she had no one named after her. . . since no one used the full name ( not even she did mind you. . . ) so she decided that I should be named after her sister ( Egidia) but my mom was not having it and named me Matilde. . .

my grandmother decided that my name was actually MatilDINA and started telling everyone to call me Dina - my parents freaked out on her. . . and my nonna, for 22 years NEVER SAID MY NAME, she called me in italian 'the baby' or bella but never my name! that is actually how I knew she was really sick with alzheimer's bc she actually said 'Matilde' - my whole family burst out into tears when she said that bc she knew she was really gone at that point- she was one stubborn lady . . .anyway, i hated my name but now i love it! i never got to meet my maternal grandma so its nice to have a part of her!

My name is Diane...

bc well..in the hospital while giving birth my mom n dad STILL had not thought of a name...I think they thought I was going to be a boy so they thought Christopher...and when i was born my grandma came in and said how bout Diane...

and that was it! not that interesting but..

middle name is Lynn bc...everyone has that or ann in my family.

i was supposed to be Brian Michael and than SURPISE!! my mother gave birth to a girl! she swore she was having a boy and they never picked a girls name.

i was in the hospital for 5 days after i was born and i was getting ready to leave as 'Baby Girl XXX' when my father suggested that i be named after my mom.

so that is where i got my name.

I was named after a song also My mom heard 'Sweet Melissa' by Barry Manilow and well the rest is history.
