i went to this shop by my job. The woman told me that i would need 125 invitations, and that it will probably cost me between $1000-$1200 i told her she was nuts and i left. i couldn't believe it. then i called this place where i know someone, she told me there was absolutely no need to pay that much and that she would give me a discount. i couldn't believe that. $1200 for paper with a time and a date on it. i was floored!
thanks for the mini vent

ok so that's the same amount i need. i'll spend the money on them if i'm absolutely in love with them and there's nothing else out there and i can't stop thinking about them. but i'm going to have to want to die for these invitations to pay that much for them, which i'm afraid is probably not totally out of the question. so i guess i'll up my invitation budget to at least $1000. lol

Re: so i did a little invitation shopping today.....
its surprising how much invites can run!
like ant n tilde i had Elite Weddings invites--and the regular price for 100 was about $1800!!!!!
i got them for much less than that, but we still paid close to $1K for them cause we couldn't find anything that we liked as much. i mean i know it gets thrown out--but we wanted the invite to be something we loved

yeah all of the prices are in the book so i saw that she was giving me a discount. . . still totally more than what i wanted to spend
i ordered about 10 samples from online THEN i looked through about 20 books and I was almost in tears bc those were the only ones i liked.
i guess everyone has a splurge item ( i.e. dress/shoes etc) and i didnt have one yet so i picked a stupid one LOL and i am also very lucky bc my mom didn't like any other ones either so she offered to pay for the invitations - a great surprise!
Good Luck!!

Re: so i did a little invitation shopping today.....
I think you can get very nice invitations for under $500 ... I saw some very nice ones in a catalog the other day for like $300, everything you need. I am going very simple - I do not like the embossed flowers, or folded invites that have the tiered papers (forget what they are called) - JMO. So, if you really do not want to spend $1000, I really not think you have to.
I have a few printers in the family if you want a reference ... just FM me. They will be glad to get the business I am sure. :)
