so i did a little invitation shopping today.....

Original post by kristi313

i went to this shop by my job. The woman told me that i would need 125 invitations, and that it will probably cost me between $1000-$1200 i told her she was nuts and i left. i couldn't believe it. then i called this place where i know someone, she told me there was absolutely no need to pay that much and that she would give me a discount. i couldn't believe that. $1200 for paper with a time and a date on it. i was floored!

thanks for the mini vent

You girls ever think about making your own invitations? It's not that hard and it saves a bunch of $$$. I am making my own and i am having so much fun jazzing them up my self!

my budget is $1000. I'm hoping to stay within that.

Mine will be half of this including postage! No way I'm spending a lot on something that gets tossed in the garbage anyway.

That is nuts..

I just ordered my invitations from Just Announce It! in Oceanside on Long Beach Road.. Nicole and Danielle are great to work with.. I only spent under $350.00 for 150 invites, response cards, enevelopes (inner and outer liners too) from Carlton Craft and they have a HUGE selection.

Of course I didn't figure in postage or calligraphy just yet.

Sorry to crash but had to comment.

I went to an Invitation place that's a vendor on here and they quoted me at about $2K plus tax and shipping. I then went to this lady who works out of her home and she charged me $1,150 for the same invitations! HELLO! What is the mark up on those puppies? you know she has to make a profit too, so what do they really cost? It's crazy!

And in addition, the invitation vendor freaked out when I said my wedding was in November and I hadn't ordered them. She told me it takes at least 4 weeks. Well 3 weeks after that, I ordered them from the lady who works from home and they were here in about 7 business days. I'm picking them up tonight actually!

We used the Invitation Station in Deer Park and paid less than $250 for 100. That included invites, response cards(printed with our address), inner envelopes, outer envelopes(printed with our return address) and we had them in about a week. But, everyone likes what they like and eveyone's wedding is to their own taste so if you can spend more on invites, I say go for it!!

imo the way I look at it they look at the invite, mark it on the calendar (or wherever) and then send back the response card. Then they just throw the invite out afterwards.

i agree.. i made sure the ones i chose matched my theme and were pretty.. i spent just under $300 for everything. i would never spend much more than that... JMO

Same I did look at some of the higher end ones but thought twice about it. They were nice but not worth me spending $1000 and up for them. I knew I wanted purple in them somehow because it's my favorite color.

I chose ones that have some lavender in it (to match my wedding colors) We had enough money left in our budget that we ordered nice heart shaped labels with our first names on them (Danielle and Gary) to add on the invitiations.

I feel that some of the less expensive ones are the better choices- more bang for your buck so to speak.
