So I don't suck as much as I thought I did (re: Self magazine)

I sent them an essay for one of their sections in February. The 6th, I think.

Anyway, I tried to be patient and emailed the editor exactly one month after the fact - March 6th or so. I caught her at the office (this was late on a week night) and she told me that she had trouble opening the attachment, but please resend it in the body of the email, I'll be happy to read it.

Score!

Okay, so now I want to give her six weeks with it. I don't want to be pushy new writer now that I know that she has my essay. So I emailed her over the weekend.

She's been away for two weeks and doesn't come back until June.

Downside: I have to work with her assistants to see what progress I can make until her return.

Upside: I don't suck as much as I thought, she's just on a long asss vacation.

Oh, God, please let this editor and her assistants really really really want to publish my essay by the end of the year

The lead time can be long. Plus, I'm unknown. So they can use it in December or even in 2008.
