So I just got off the phone with the Legislators Office....
I called Dave Mejias' office in regards to strengthening requirements before operating a Motorcycle/Ninja Bike and tightening up penalties for riders who feel the need to drive wrecklessly in honor of my cousin Lisa. As you know, she was buried the day of my wedding after being killed needlessly in a Ninja Bike accident. When I was at the wake, I found out that she had text messaged one of her friends about how scared she was because her BF was driving like a jerk and she couldn't wait to get back to her car (it was her first time on a bike)....needless to say, she was killed moments later as the driver hit a car while he (her BF) was driving at speeds in excess of 100mph.
Now, just the other day i was on my way to work on Northern State and was cut off my 3 people on ninja bikes.....about 15 mins later, i was in bumper to bumper traffic and 4 more ninja bikes were cutting between lanes and cars to bypass the traffic while everyone else just sat around because hey....traffic is traffic.....
Anyway, I made my decision after seeing these idiots swerving in and out and between cars, that I was going to try my best to get something rolling to make it harder for people to get away with this. With the summer quickly approaching, I hope that any of you who own a bike, or if your FH owns a bike, that you take extra caution when you are out on the road. As much as you see these articles in the paper every single day over the warm weather months, there are even more that aren't put into the paper.
I got the ball rolling this morning thanks to someone named Brendan in the Legislator's office, so hopefully something good can come of this.

you know those tiny motorcylces??? Honda makes them.....it wasn't a harley....it was one of those fast tiny things.....

FH has a bike and he use to go on it utnil 4am racing around with all his friends..it scared me to death....Now he hasnt really been riding it, bc we have been so busy, but i know the nice weather is coming and hes going to be going out again. I do like going on teh bike with him on a nice day ride to the beach or to port jefferson, but I am so nervous when he is out with his friends and they do retarded stuff(even though he says he doesnt).....I HATE those bikes that go in and out of traffic...FH does not do that!!..bc any sudden lane switch he can be crushed so he is smart with that!...but he loves his bike hes been riding since he was 18...he loves it so much he doesnt want to give it up!..His dad and brother both have a bike...he prob will never give it up!

OMG, I am so sorry about your friend. It is such a shame that so many bikers drive so crazy out there and they are so many losses cause of it. I think it is great that you spoke to someone in Legislator's Office. I hope they can make a difference.

I seriously applaud you- you took a tragic situation and are doing something to keep other people safe. And I totally agree- it terrifies me how those little bikes swerve in and out of traffic & you dont hear them until they are right next to you.

thanks for the support girls.....obviously if it were up to me, every bike in the world would be destroyed, but that isn't realistic. If I can do something to make the roads safer, if it even saves one persons life, it was worth it. I really hope this goes somewhere.

OMG! This is the first time reading about your cousin's accident. So sorry for your lost. I think it is great that you made that call. I was just saying the other day about so many motorcyclist are reckless drivers.

I HATE PEOPLE WHO DO THAT!!
My FH followed one down and yelled at one, one time because we were on 25A, and he went into on coming traffic to go around us and a bunch of other cars infront of us and made a HUGE MAC truck pull over.... REDIC!!!
