I kept messing up until I bought a cookbook. I could not make grilled cheese, but I was making gumbo and enchiladas. I am all for reading the receipes and copying it exactly, it really does come out good. But I am no independent chef at all

it happens to everyone when they first start out
i once made chicken cutlets but HELLO forgot to add the egg and breadcrumbs etc...i just rolled them in flour - dummy
I also tried to make chicken marsala and the marsala sauce came out like paper mache paste.....my DH was trying not to laugh so hard. We finally threw it out and got pizza!

OK OK DONT MAKE FUN OF ME this was my 1st time actually cooking this is a very touchy thing for me and i told him not to say anything because i was embarresed and HE TOLD EVERYONE!!!!
well i did the egg, and the bread crumb but i didnt use oil I USED BUTTER LOL so when he came down to see what i was doing because smoke alarms where going off he cam down to a room filled with smoke all the windows open the stove vent was on lol
i trieddddddddd at least
NOW DONT MAKE FUN OF ME

that's not such a stupid mistake.
a tip--when you do use oil, remember that olive oil burns faster than other oils-- I always set off the smoke detectors.

once me and a friend were baking a cake. we preheat oven and set timer, wait 25 minutes timer goes off, we open oven door and it was empty!!! the cake pan and uncooked batter was still sitting ontop of oven, we were so into properly setting timer, we never even opened the oven!!

ok...now i consider myself an experienced cooker, but everyone makes mistakes..
following a recipe one day, I did exactly what it said: cover with saran wrap, then cover with aluminum foil....bake at 350 degrees for 45 mins...
let's just say you should never bake anything covered in saran wrap..(even with aluminum over it)...
I'm STILL trying to scrap the plastic off the pan!
- hhmmm come to think of it...I'll be right back...gotta go throw out a pan!
