So I want to be Martha Stewart Again...

We are in the placecard stage and I have this idea in my head but don't know how to make it work. Since we are having a fall wedding I would like to have a 'tree' with leaf shaped places cards hanging off. Any of you creative brides have any idea what I could use for the tree?

How about those ornament trees? I've seen them at Crate and Barrel...they are meant to hold ornamnents but could work to hold your leaves....

Or a picture tree made to hold pictures or cards...you can prob. find them in the stores now since the holiday goods are coming out on the shelves!

HMMMMM both good ideas. Where do I get the bridal shower ones?

Do you think it is a dumb idea and is it going to be hard for people to find their 'leaf' ?

I think it's cute. YOu can put the leaves I guess in Alphabetical order from the top so that it's easier to find their names.

How bout you buy one of those cone shaped styrofoam thingies. they have them at Pearl or Lee's Paint.

see if you can get one that is colored or you could probably spray paint it.. then, you could get all sorts of leaves and buy one of those pretty gold metallic pens and nicely write everyone's names on the leaves.. those would be the placecards!! and then you can glue it onto a toothpick and them glu another leaf to the back.. and then you can stick them into the styrofoam tree...

I saw the wreath (which sparked my idea) I figure I could always do that. I just wanted something different and it is a project that I don't think will require a glue gun! Since I have banned myself from using one after the cake making burn!

what about a money tree? Let me look..I know last year my FI's mom made someone a money tree...instead of putting money you can put your placecards. I think oriental trading sells them...not sure if this is what you are looking for.

I think that is a great idea, you might need a couple of trees because it might get crazy if everyone is looking for their card on one tree.

You can also get rent one from your florist.
Here is my only concern: How will you order the placecards on the tree? It might take your guests a very long time to 'find' their cards if they are not in some order.
I LOVE the idea but just wanted to discuss the logistics of doing it.

Michele I have the same concern. As ddunne said you could do them alphabetical starting at the top.
Depending on how big the tree is I could split the sections with a place card that has the Letter of that section
