So I went for my first dress fitting

and I ended up in tears on the way home.

I love my dress. Its beautiful. But it doesnt look the same as when I first tried it on. FIrst of all, when I tried it on there wasnt a drop waist. But that doesnt bother me so much. Right around my hips....the dress material PUFFS out. It make me look bloated.

The seamstress kept telling me thats the way the dress is. She also said it was going to look different than the sample because the sample was a 16 and my dress is a 4. So when I tried it on, I didnt get the full effect.

So I scuked it up. Then on the way home, as I was looking at the pics I started crying hysterically. because I dont like it- its not what I want! My mom and grandma said I look great..but I dont feel great. I feel like this one part is unflattering. Esp. when you look at it from the side angle you can tell its there.

So I called them to say I was looking at my pics and I'm not happy...I want this one part changed. The woman said it might be the slip..or it could be b/c its a different size). I'm going back Wed. 'to see what they can do'

I hope they can alter this...it makes me cry. A good seamstress should be able to 'flatten out' the puff right?

Part of me feelings like I'm being a drama queen....its just one part of the dress. But I was crying for over an hour last night over it. I'm just not happy. I hope the seamstress can change it.

its okay to be a drama queen. tell them what you want. a good seamstress can fix anything

i was in tears after my first try on too. the dress just didnt look right. but they totally pulled it in and made it smaller , and it all worked out

it probably needs to be brought in another inch or so around the waist/hips

Colleen...obviously I have nothing but sympathy for you. Its been a couple of sucky first fittings for our weekend!! I really hope it works out for you and I both!

Thank you soooo much girls! Your support means so much to me.

I love my dress. I feel like a princess in it. Its definatly the one.

Its just that one small issue is bothering SO much. I hope they can fix it. We'll find out Wednesday!

I think it looks beautiful on you, Colleen! I see what you mean, but I don't know that I would have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out. I agree with the other girls--hold your ground! They can definitely fix that! If they can't or won't, take it to a seamstress who can!

First of all its a beautiful dress and looks gorgeous on u! After u mentioned it (I looked at pics before reading) I can see what ur talking about. It looks like it could just be taken in. Right? Is that what they're doing before u go back?

I really think they should be able to fix that - it just looks as though it has to be taken in a tiny bit. Maybe you didn't notice it w the sample since it was so big and you were probably all clipped up and all.......

Ok Colleen, three things...

1. You look AMAZING and I LOVE the way the bodice looks on you.

2. The dress should not be that puffy in that area. Get your alterations elsewhere and have them pull it tighter. They can taper it so that it doesn't make the skirt less in volume.

3. If you have it altered and still don't LOVE your dress. Do yourself a favor and buy something you love yourself in! It isn't too late but only you know if it's the right dress for you. I went through the same thing last summer.

I do see what your talking about, but I feel like that could be fixed by taking the dress in. It looks like the dress is too big at that part.

i don't really see the puffiness but you look beautiful! if there is something you do not like, its good that you let them know so they can work on that for you. You look great regardless!

You look gorgeous. Your dress is beautiful. I do see what you mean and it would make me feel the same way. I know a good seamstress can alter it to your preference. In fact, most wouldn't let you have the dress until it was exactly as it should be. You are not being a drama queen at all. I would definitely speak with the Manager and let her know how you feel and show them these pictures.

You look stunning and beautiful in your dress!!!!! I do see a slight poof that your talking about and since you aren't happy with it they should be able to fix it to your liking either with minor alteration and/or different slip.
