i dont know i think they would be more inclined to throw things in if you were under b/c at that point you are paying for meals that wont be served - so if they arent preparing 10 meals they can swap it for something else that would cost them the same as those 10 meals

I thought maybe they would - they're making so much more money off of you when you go over. . . when you're under, they do it because you're paying for guests that aren't there.

I'm going to be WAY over so I'm hoping they do this

You have to pay per person so you will be paying more. There is no reason for them to provide extras for going over. When you are under your minimum and have to pay for plates that no one uses they will normally provide other items to equal that cost.

I was under my minimum by 21 people and i got nothing extra. I was a little disappointed but in the end i did get exactly what i paid for. I would think that since people are going over that maybe they would throw in something or at least give you a good deal on something like a chocolate fountain or some other add on. Definitely couldn't hurt to ask!

I would think so too! Thats a shame that they gave you nothing extra for being under, but at least you got what you wanted and nothing less!

My friend who is getting married 2 weeks after me, actually got money off per person for being over... thats pretty good if you ask me!

Wow thats awesome! Definitely speak up. We really thought that they would throw stuff in for us (since we also heard that they did that for several other weddings) but they didn't. Which is fine because we had sooooo much food anyway.

I think it depends on who you are dealing with and sometimes what kind of mood the person is in! Sometimes they can be more generous to others because of their mood or vice versa.
As long as you LOVED everything about your wedding and it was perfect then no regrets! But it never hurts to ask

I have NEVER been given extra for going over my minimum (I am an event/meeting planner). Your minimum is set to protect their interests not your -- to ensure they make a certain amount of money per event. So going over is more money for them not something they want to share with you.
