I knew I would forget something when I did my invitations..... and, I did.
I set up the order online, and then let it sit there all day, so, when I went to place the order at night, it had expired. I had to go back and do it again.
I forgot to add, on the bottom of the invite: 'Cocktail Hour and Reception to follow'
I know it's not a huge deal, and, people will already be there for the ceremony, but, IDK, I kind of feel like I should order the reception cards now. My mom agrees.
What do you girls think? Will people automatically realize that cocktail hour and reception are after the ceremony? (Keep in mind, FH's family is OOT, and are all used to people getting married in church.)
TIA!

Re: So..... I'm a moron.
Mine only say reception to follow - i didn't do the cocktail hour thing.
If it's a budget thing - i wouldn't worry honestly...once people arrive at your ceremony and see that it's a CH type place, whether they are from out of town or not - they'll go - okay, we now go in here... You'll be fine...
If you have the money to spend - than go for it - either way i think you're fine!

I agree, I kind of think I'll be fine...... iit's $60ish plus shipping to do them, so, I'll probably do it, just for peace of mind.

Re: So..... I'm a moron.
i think most people will assume - but FMIL went to a wedding on Friday and they just wrote what what time the reception started so she was under the impression there as NO cocktail hour - but there was.

I agree, if you have the mony. . .sure why not! otherwise people will know and you are fine. Myself?? I probably wouldn't even notice that it didn't say that on the invite!

i was actually told by several people in the business NOT to put this on my invitations because then people purposely come later and not to the ceremony

nope i didnt here is my invite - no reception card
Interesting thought - my RH told me to have the invites say it starts a half hour earlier than it does to be sure that everyone gets there on time for the ceremony. Our wedding starts at 6:30 - but the invites say 6:00..
LOVE the invites BTW!

Re: So..... I'm a moron.
Okay. Yeah, I just assumed that everyone comes to the ceremony if you get married at the place, but, at the wedding yesterday, there were over 200 people, and, I swear, there were maybe 125ish at the ceremony.... I could be a bit off, but, there were definitely A LOT less people at the ceremony.
And, that's just rude, IMO!!

I would order the reception cards. Sometimes people are special... also, if people are confused, they may call you or your mother and FMIL, you don't need that added hassle.

My RH does the same thing..... they serve champagne and strawberries during the 30 minutes before the ceremony, so, people aren't late!

i think its rude as well and thats why i didnt put on there 'reception immediately followint' because then they will come even later
my ceremony starts at 730 but i put 7 on the invite normally i dont like when people do that; but FH's family is ALWAYS late

It's DEFINITELY rude. I've been to a wedding where the people showed up at the end of the ceremony or at the CH and i honestly to this day - think less of those people...

Re: So..... I'm a moron.
i got an invite to a wedding at Flowerfield and it just says the time the ceremony starts. maybe it's b/c i'm planning a wedding... but i didnt think anything of it. i know the reception is immediately following.
if i were you, i wouldnt waste the money on reception cards. but that's just me
