So I'm sitting here crying at my desk like an idiot...

...because the owner of the dog we found is coming to pick her up today at 4:30.

We kept trying to think of reasons we wouldn't want to keep her in case this happened but I guess it didn't work too well because I'm so upset! FH is leaving work 2 hours early so he can come say goodbye to her...and we've only had her for 3 days! It's just that she's the best damn dog I have ever seen in my life.

It's sad but you did the right thing, you would be even more heartbroken if your dog was lost.

OMG I am going through the same thing still! I found a wonderful home for the dog we found (irishbride and her hubby) and my heart is still broken. I did my best to find a home for her knowing we couldnt keep her with our other 2 dogs but when the time came to give her up, I was destroyed. Just know you did the right thing and this dog will always remember you for it. My heart goes out to you...trust me, I know!

A friend of mine saw the posting for lost dog that matched the description so I called. I'd be thrilled if they came and said 'Oh, no, that's not her' but I know it is - the description is perfect.

But just think, if it weren't for you, the dog may not even be alive today, or may have been picked up by someone that would have mistreated it. You did a great thing

Imagine how sad the owners must have felt after having had the dog for as long as they did. And think of how happy you will make them when you give him back. Maybe they'll let you come visit!

So she's gone . The owner came and left already. She really was such a great dog. The good part is that I think it finally convinced FH that we're ready for a dog. The bad part is I don't think we're ever going to find a dog quite like her.
