Re: So in the beginging you wanted everything for your wedding?
well I wanted a band but we changed that to a DJ, I wanted to go to Italy for our honeymoon but it's too expensive so we're going to Aruba instead and I really wanted a string trio for the cocktail hour but I think we're substituting that with trumpeteers at the Church which is about 1/2 the price. and lastly I really wanted a pair of manolo blahniks for my wedding shoes but I think FH would kill me if I spent that kind of money on a pair of shoes so that idea is out the window lol

Re: So in the beginging you wanted everything for your wedding?
Unfortunately i'm the total opposite. I oringinally wanted a DJ and got a band. I wanted to spend only $1500 for florists but splurged for double. And my hall.....it took my entire original budget for the entire wedding! At this rate, my wedding will end up at almost twice my original budget!!!!

I am trying to cut back somewhat. But then I am thinking... I plan on only getting married once.

Well, I wanted a horse and carriage, but since the ceremony and reception will be in the same place, I really don't see the point. . . all though Momzilla begs to differ

I feel like we just keep adding on things bc we see more and more things we like and want, and although it is costing a ton...you only get married once!!!!! (I hope
) I hope we will soon start cutting back

hmm, i always remained practical b/c i am your average working gal whose priority is to own her own home. While $30000 is average yet an insane amount of money to blow in one day, I still want to do it!We'll just save for a house the same way we saved for this wedding!

Im the same way!!!
I have to say though - that my photo and video is less than I budgeted for - but then again I over budgeted - after seeing how much my sister and brother spent on their weddings!

Re: So in the beginging you wanted everything for your wedding?
O.K. so I read the previous posts and some of them say, 'I'm only doing this once' Well, thats what I thought....I'm doing it again!!! I had a massive wedding 12 years ago. This time, I wanted to just go away and have a destination wedding. Well, since this is FH first wedding, that idea did not fly....So, now, all these years later, I'm having half the people and paying twice as much! WHat I paid for a band 12 years ago, I'm paying now for a DJ.
My per plate charge had doubled. I had really no idea how expensive things got.
I would never take the day away from FH. Eveyone deserves a wedding day. I just never thought I would do it again this big!!!! I must say I do enjoy the planning....and have avoided alot of the mistakes I made the first time!

Re: So in the beginging you wanted everything for your wedding?
I basically cut back the minute we started planning.... when you have no money and your parents can't help you, you have to cut corners. there were other halls i really wanted, but they were insane in terms of price.... but things ended up working out.... i found a nice place with a price we can handle... I also found a band that we REALLY like for cheap (I thought I would have to get a DJ) and my photographer threw in the video (another thing I tohught I would have to skip) for free in our package. So, although I'll be freezing my *** off, February is paying off!
