so I had a bunch of giftcards sitting in my house and FH and I are going to get him measured for his tux for our friends' wedding and then to Gamestop after work so I said let me take these and see how much they have left on them.
So I go to check this Visa Giftcard that I know FH has had for about 1.5 years and they actually starting January of this year took out $5.00 a month due to inactivity. How lame is that? What's the point of a giftcard if they are going to take fees out of it. The person already paid for it, they have the money for it, now why are they taking more out. I just think the whole thing is stupid. I know they are starting to do this with a lot of giftcard but it just makes no sense.

I hate that! I had an AMEX GC that lost $2/month! I kept forgetting i had it-by the time i finally used it what started as $100 GC only gave me $74 to spend! Crazy!!!

i hate when they do this. but i thin they do because they don't want you keeping the card around forever - they want you to use is asap. at leasts thats what i was tolf when i used to work in retail as a kid

Have you ever bought gas with those things?! They put a $500 hold on the card until the gas is processed...... Wish FH and I knew this on our way home from South Carolina this past christmas! Would've saved us a ton of time and aggrivation calling and complaining what happened to my balance. AND the stupid instructions that come with those things, NEVER say that.

store gift cards don't usually expire...but i had a visa gift card, and nowhere in the instruction thing did it say that it would deduct funds...strange. it is really dumb though...and i agree, it is stealing and i think there has to be some kind of legal thing where they aren't allowed to do it..i'd research it but i'm too lazy lol
