When I got home from Paris on Monday night after our first flight was canceled and we sat in the airport for 8 hours and then had an 8 hour flight, my luggage did not make it on the plane. They said that I would have it Tuesday morning. They finally called after 11:00 last night and said it would be here in the morning. Well it got here this morning and when I went in it I realized that they STOLE out of my bag. They took 2 of my handbags and all of the stuff that I bought for my Store Managers. These managers helped me to win the contest that got me to Paris and I wanted to get them a little something to thank them. I started a trend with that and all of the other DM's got their managers the same gifts that I did. Now my managers will be the only ones in the entire reagion to not have these and to not have any gifts at all.
Girls when you are traveling do not bring things with you that you would be devistated about if you lost them. I love the 2 bags that were taken and now they are gone. You never know if you will have them when you get home.
I will be calling the baggage department in 10 min. when they open.
Thanks for listening to my vent!!!! ........Update......
I talked to the airline and they say that if I send a letter and any receipts I have they will reimburse me. I hope that is true.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. That is why any time we travel FH puts a lock on the suitcases. This way we know if they need to open it for any reason they have to ask us. And we will know if anyone tried to open it. Hope you get your things back or atleast soemthing for it.

That STINKS. Something similar happened to a friend of mine when she traveled. The airline was basically like, too bad. Word of advice - NEVER put anything in checked luggage that is important to you!

That is awful! I am sorry to hear that you had a rough time! On the other hand! What a great job that they send you to Paris for a contest!

AHHH! I am so sorry. The same thing happened to FH on way home from vacation a few years back. They stole expensive watches that he had hid inside his bag. Really stinks that we have to worry about stuff like this.

If the TSA needs to get into your luggage they will clip the locks especially if it's not a TSA approved lock.

Yup I've had this done. I've had damaged luggage too but never lost or stolen items. I'm sorry this happened but I'm not sure what they will do for you, go prove it ya know. They might give you a voucher for the airline.

UGH! that's awful
Hopefully they will compensate you.
Something I always do when i travel is that any gifts i bring with me in my carry on. I'm always afraid something like that will happen.

Re: So MAD!!! (kind of long) talked to the airline
that is so upsetting
I have never flown before, but a fear of mine is to have my stuff stolen out of my luggage. Things that cant be replaced. How i look at it is, these airline workers make peanuts...so they feel like its ok to take other peoples stuff to compensate for their salary.
I think its so messed up, and although its just material things, its a violation of your things, and its just really upsetting

Actually airline employees make decent salaries. They just have sticky fingers.

Not yet. I am going to let them know. If I do get some money back I am going to get them something else. To me it won't be the same since it isnt from Paris, but at least they will have a token of my appreciation.

I was going to say, I didn't think you could lock your luggage.
I actually never worried about having something STOLEN out of my luggage ... I worry constantly about it not getting on the plane with me, especially when I have to connect. I am sooooo worried about losing our luggage on our honeymoon. I may ship some things to my hotel ahead of time to make sure I get it! (And to make sure I do not need to pay extra for heavy / extra bags, since we are going to Alaska and will probably have heavy winter stuff with us.)
