SO MISERABLE

Feel better! I've had abdominal surgery twice -- once was open and the other was laparoscopic.

After the open surgery, I got bronchitis. I found a stuffed animal that fit comfortably on my stomach (a kangaroo called Boo Roo Roo, but I digress). If you have a pillow or stuffed animal, hold it over your stomach when you cough or sneeze. It sounds silly, but it will help.

Also, sorry if TMI, but Colace will help with the other issue!

Yep, got the pillow technique down

And I got the other issue under control but Colace wasn't sufficient M.O.M. did the trick though. And walking, the dr told me I needed to go out and walk, which is just what you want to do in the ice and snow right after surgery!

Thanks everybody!!! I've had a lunch date set with my bestie/MOH today for a week with the anticipation that I would feel better so I'ma **** it up, take some sudafed and enjoy myself this afternoon. Need to get ou tof this house!!!

Did your doctor give you a binder to wear? It's like a girdle that velcros around your tummy.

After my surgery last month, they gave me one and it really helped support those sore muscles.

I know what you mean about not wanting to walk in this weather. Can you get to the mall during the day when it's not too crowded?

I'm really just a big baby I guess, it was laparascopic, girdle unnecessary. Really, I think I'd be virtually pain free if I hadn't been sneezing and coughing non-stop for the past 2 days. But what can I do.
And I'm not allowed to drive anywhere til I go for follow up on Monday and you couldn't drag me on the bus if you paid me, so I just walk around the block...carefully..

NO NO NO! You're not a baby. My surgery last month was also laparascopic and they gave me the binder. Ask your doctor about it. For me, it was a God send! It just helped support everything and helped ease some of the discomfort.

Also, did they give you that breathing thing? Keep doing that. I had to fly home a few days after the surgery and picked up a little cough. Doing the breathing thing helped break it up. If not, just make sure that every hour or so, you try to take 10 really deep breaths.

Does the cold medicine you're taking help enough with the cough? I found that Buckley's worked the best for me. Their slogan is that it tastes awful but it works. It's so true! Mix it with a little OJ, hold your nose, and chug it down.

The cough is ok as long as I take the sudafed cause it's from all the stuff dripping down my throat. And I have Rx cough medicine if it gets worse, but it's not that bad yet. It's the sneezing that's killing me! I need to pick up an antihistamine later while I'm out for lunch with MOH, I ran out here.

Thank you for all your suggestions! I feel like such a baby! And FH feels bad for me, but I think he's sick of my whining and I can't blame him He's been so good this week.

Well, if you need someone else to whine to, FM me! I can totally relate!

After my surgery (which was for endometriosis), I wasn't allowed to bend or lift for 2 weeks to try to minimize the risk of adhesions forming. And the more you try not to drop things, the more you do. Poor DH would come home from work and I'd have a list of things I'd dropped around the house that he'd have to go around and pick up. LOL
