So my BM finally tried on the BM dress she thought wouldn't fit....
and it didn't
She can zip it up past her stomach but cant zip it past her ribs.. So i guess less than half way up.
I don't want to be involved but I need to give her some ideas bc she is thinking of making like corset style back (with the strings) and I really dont want the dresses to be different.

I dont know? Do you think she can use extra material from the bottom for this? She is short so alot has to be hemmed off the bottom.

maybe...she would probably need to rush order extra fabric though in addition...i think it might take a fair amount of material especially with the rouging

Oh my.. thats never going to happen. She is not going to order more material.. and to make matters worse I think she is having a friend hem it... god only knows how much experience she has.

i dont even think it will fit with a corset if it is that snug....shes gonna have to suck it up here and if it were me i think id put my foot down on this one! You have EVERY right to Jen!

If it were me I'd tell her that her dress better look the same as everyone elses and if that involves ordering more material and paying extra to rush it then that's what she'll do...you told her to order a bigger size and she didn't, its her own fault. If she can't do that then I'd tell her she's not walking down the aisle at my wedding like that.

I wore this dress in a wedding - it has a train - so if you let her cute it off might be enough material! I had a wrap thing made just from the train!!! Hope that helps!

can she have the seamstress fold down the back of the dress that doesn't close, like to make a scooped back and add straps to keep it from falling? This way the dress in the front is still exactly the same?

oh what a nightmare. . i would say try to use the extra fabric from the dress to do something with the back. .
I would have her NOT go to her friend to hem it bc if they hem and dont get the fabric correctly you might not be able to use it. . you could prob fix the back with a panel though. . I like the idea of scooping the back too!!

Tell her she needs to go with you to have alterations done, not to some friend of hers!! You need to be there to express that they need to hem it, and some how make panels to fix it. If she gives you a hard time, give her the boot. I know it is harsh, but you told her to order it bigger. Is there anyway a new dress can be ordered ASAP and rushed? Even from another store, the vendor, etc? I am so sorry your dealing with this crap.

Ooh if there is a train I wouldn't let her go to a friend to hem it anyhow... especially if you are keeping it, my dresses had sweeps and even though they all went to professionals they came out slightly different. It looked fine but I know doing it is tougher, hence why every seamstress my girls went to wanted to cut it off.
I would make her go with you. Also ask the seamstress at the place you got it what they would suggest. Personally, if it was my BM and she wouldn't let me order it in a bigger size and it was that small on her I would make her re-order it or get a trainer and stop eating, those would be her choices. And I was so far from a bridezilla, but that would have been my bridezilla moment.

To answer all of you..
she can not come with us to get it altered, she lives in Florida and will not be in NY until 2 days before the wedding. I would prefer if she didnt go to her friend, she knows that.. but Im not there to stop it.
None of my girls are getting their dresses altered at the same place so Im sure the train is going to look different on everyone.
I have told her about the extra material but I can promise you she will not order it.. she still hasnt paid me back for the dress itself. I laid out the money months ago and after many phone calls, emails, and texts I only got half of the money from her.
I like the idea of the scopped back but I think (from what she made it sound like) that its not zippering up half as much as i thought it was.
She texts me after trying it in.. 'can you exchange my dress for me'. NOOOO I told her when she was ordereing that was it.. no exchanges.. and she still wanted the smaller size
ETA.. I am emailing her all your suggestions

Just tell her to stop being a brat, DONT have her friend hem it, If she takes it to a seamstress they will be able to pull out material so that it zips...My sister had to get it done for her friends wedding bc they order a small size and it was fine. Tell her to suck it up and if she doesnt want to order more material than go to a professional seamstress and have them take it out... Dont worry it will all work out...

Dresses have 1-2 inches usually to let out...if the dress is that far off from zippering I am not sure that it will help. Jen I am so sorry you have ot deal with this but she needs to get her butt to a professional seamstress ASAP

Just spoke to my mom and she said that my cousins (my BM) friend is actually very good. She makes clothing etc.. so she does know what she is doing. That makes me feel better.
But there is def. no material to take out.. she has already looked into that.

Its ok Lauren.. I blame myself for even listening to her and letting her get her way.I should have told her i ordered the 2 but really ordered the 4 or something. UGH My mom is handelling this for me I just dont care enough at the moment.
