There is a couple who FH and I were more than likely planning on asking to be in the bridal party though we hadn't made our final decision just yet and said that if we were going to have them we were going to ask them on easter (as that is probably the next time we will see them)
p.s. - the 'prospective' Bridesmaid who has not yet been asked calls me up this weekend and asks if it would be okay if she didn't get her hair done at my house and what time would she need to be there for pictures so she knows when to make the appointment.. . .
I'm totally off guard at that point and reply normally telling her that yea it's fine for her to go somewhere else for hair and makeup and that the photographer will probably be there around 11ish.
conversation ends, I hang up the phone and realize. . .
she just put herself into the bridal party without being asked!
granted she is in my sister's BP and okay so she assumed that she was going to be in ours too. . . but c'mon you don't start asking questions about hair and makeup and what time you need to be there before you were actually asked to be in the party!
Not that would but I couldn't even say no at that point even if I needed to!

Re: So my bridal party is expanding on it's own. . .
that is so wrong!! lol...i'm sure she was just excited and didn't think about the fact that you hadn't asked...but i hate when people do that.
this isn't anywhere near as bad, but right after we got engaged my mom asked me what reading i would like her to do at the ceremony. i reminded her that i hadn't asked her to do a reading and that i wasn't sure i wanted her to (she doesn't know it but i want to do a rose ceremony to honor her in her own special way)...and she got all offended!!
people need to remember the rule about assuming...

Well, I guess considering that you were going to ask her anyway, it's not so terrible, but it's funny how she's so presumptuous.
You should call her up now and ask her what time you have to be at her house for the dinner she's cooking you tonight.

what makes it worse is that asking or not asking them was really a borderline issure with me and FH. We honestly weren't sure if we were going to or not and now the decision was just made for us which bothers me more than anything else.

Listen, don't worry about what will happen if you don't end up wanting her in your bridal party. If that happens, then SHE ends up looking silly, not YOU. If you decide that you don't want her as a BM, it's not like you're going to call her up and say, 'Nyah, nyah - you thought you were in my wedding, but you're not, sucka!' You'll call her up and say, 'listen, I know you know that I haven't put together all the details of my wedding, but I would be really honored if you could do a reading at the ceremony' or something like that. Find a way to include her and play it up. What's she going to do, whine 'But I made myself a bridesmaaaaaaiiiidddd!' Nah, she'll realize her mistake and suck it up. I think. I would, anyway. Good luck!
