and that was my Sunday..this weekend just was crappy..my father and I do not speak, we basically hate each other coming from years of issues do to my parent's divorce and him doing stuff that isn't worth getting into on a public board. I have always been in touch with his side of the family (even though they are wacked)..now all of a sudden since I told them that no matter what, he isn't coming to the wedding nor is he walking me down the aisle which he wants to. Anyone with Daddy issues knows that this is a sensitive subject. So they get on my case about how I better watch out or 'suffer consequences' I was like what the eff?? He uses them left and right, doesn't have a job, lives in their den, and now he is God??? Anyway, the only people from the paternal side that's coming at this rate is my aunt by marriage and the kids who are the flowers girls. I know this all sounds crazy but I am just venting. Ugh..I hate them!!!!!!!!!

Hi Alexandra- (nice name-mine too..lol)
My dad and mom split when i was 2- He took my brother..my mom took me... Both parents got remarried.. Have seen my dad about 15 times in my 33 years.. My step dad raised me since i was 3.. him and mom got divorced 16 years later but my step dad is a part of my every day life and he is grandfather to my kids..
My father had the audacity to think that i would have him walk me down the isle. I got criticized left and right- was even told that my wedding will be a 'circus' and i am a 'disgrace'- i thank my brother for that..
Long story short- Even though i didnt have to- i called my father up and told him-he had a choice to come or not and that my stepfather would be walking me down the isle. 3 days before my wedding- he calls my brother to tell him that in fact he will be coming..
I contemplated my decision and lost soo much sleep over it.. In the end- the reality was.. It was my freakin day- and what kind of person would i be if i didnt honor that man that infact raised me.. I really didnt give a hoot what people had to say- They got their invites..if they wanted to come..that was on them.. i wasn't begging anyone..
I will always cherish the fact that my step dad raised me and have no regrets- Wait.. one regret.. I regret second guessing my decision a zillion times..
just because they are 'father' doesnt mean they deserve to have the title.. Go with your gut and your heart.. Its one day and you wont be able to take it back- so have no regrets in whatever you decide..and dont let ANYONE tell you how you feel or what you 'should do'

HA! That is the FIRST wedding I ever saw my fathers side dancing their butts off and walking away with a big smile on their faces.. The only 'consequences' is that the wedding was over at 11:30pm and no one wanted to go home..lol
