So, my parents got a wedding invite in the mail and the response card is so odd - need advice

Original post by RisiLeigh

I have never seen one like this before so maybe you girls can help. The response card is literally a postcard-looking thing, and at the top left it says, 'Please respond,' and at the bottom right it has 'By June 12.' The whole rest of the card is blank. Are they just supposed to handwrite their names and info in the blank center of the card? I have never seen one done this way before!

In the past, there were no RSVP cards -- guests would write back on their own stationery. However, over time the RSVP card thing evolved.

It is considered more formal to do it the way this invite had it -- people write their own note. However, people are idiots and cant seem to figure out how to properly fill out the more common types of RSVPs, let alone mail them in on time, so people have moved away from the more formal ettiquette.

they didnt make a mistake! you just fill it in yourself

Great minds think alike ... you are precisely correct! I want to do mine this way but I was told no one would know what to do with them!

Ours was a postcard with regular stuff on one side, blank on the back. People have written all kinds of nice notes on the back, I didn't even think of that, but now I'm glad they had that space. Of course, they've also written things like 'number of guests: pi' and things like that. Boy, my friends are SOOOOOOOOO funny. Gee whiz.

Our RSVP's were exactly like this. Just the date of when to reply by was printed, We are having a black tie formal wedding, and were told this is the more formal way of sending out invites.

Not one person was confused on what to do, everyone response card came back with messages, drawings or just a typical mr and mrs so and so will/will not be attending. It definitely adds a more personal touch.
