umm....maybe you'll just have to wait to get yours!! And you realy have a long way to go!! haha- i will try to post a pic of me in it soon-

Hey - just wanted to jump in and comment how I love that no girls ever post pics of themselves in their LIW shirts. They always start 'Guess what I got in the mail today...' threads, and then there's no visual. It's all so mysterious! It makes me want the LIW shirt 10 times more. Not knowing what it looks like is part of the fun!

Hi Bonnie! I guess I'm bringin' up the rear for the night crew... I don't even get STARTED till after midnight. Hee. Anyway, I saw THREE places today that I liked for my inn/reception! It was a great weekend! Are you still in Florida?

Yes, heading home to NY tomorrow evening! It will be the end of my 'I have more free time on my hands than I know what to do with.' So sad!

Where did you look? And which places did you like?

NOOOOO! I want it to remain a mystery! That way I can imagine that it's either:

- spun from threads of gold; or

- that it has an obscene picture on it; or

- that it's only available in a size XXXL, so that it comes down to your mid-calf and is actually worn belted, as a dress.

I mean, why else would we have not seen it yet? I'm not being facetious - seriously, if you're going to post a pic, could you put it in your album or something so I don't run into it accidentally?

If it is that big, do you PROMISE to do that and take pictures, Dava? HAHAHAHAHA That's AWESOME.

Re: SO NOT GETTING ANY WORK DONE!!!!

We aren't looking at halls; we're looking at country inns. We decided to keep it kind of small (about 80 people) and love the idea of renting out an inn for a weekend and having a 3-day party.

So today we drove to the Poconos and saw 2 places in PA and one in NJ - all 3 were so nice, and so different. One was called Stroudsmoor, and was a resort with a spa and 60 rooms, mostly cottages/cabins, a swimming pool, and 200 acres of land for hiking, etc. The other one in PA was recommended to me by a bride on this board who got married there in August - the Cliff Park Inn - a gorgeous, elegant, New England-ish 12 bedroom inn on a golfcouse that's on a hilltop. The 3rd place was a small B&B called the Apple Valley Inn in NJ - so homey and cozy. Maybe a little too small, but it had a creek with a picturesque little bridge over it where we could say our vows, and a wraparound porch for the cocktail hour.

Last week i was stressing because I couldn't find any places that I thought would be good, and now I've found 3!

Re: SO NOT GETTING ANY WORK DONE!!!!

They sound WONDERFUL! Oh, I'm SO happy for you! Isn't it SUCH a relief when you find somewhere that fits what you're looking for? I really didn't think it was ever going to happen!!

Yay! So which one are you leaning towards?

Re: SO NOT GETTING ANY WORK DONE!!!!

It's funny, they're all about 90% of what I want.

Apple Valley Inn - really cozy atmosphere, but a bit small and too close to the road; I'm worried about hearing traffic go by as we exchange our vows. Also, it would have to be tented, which I love... unless it (shh- I was about to say the 'R' word but I stopped myself just in time).

Cliff Park Inn - the rooms are pretty expensive (over $200 a night) and have to be booked for a minimum of 2 nights each. That's a lot of money to ask of people who drive 2 hours to come see me get married. Also, the indoor facility holds exactly 72 people and I'm worried that if we have 70 like we're expecting, it might be a tight fit.

Stroudsmoor - they hold 3 weddings at a time there, and there are 60 rooms so we would not have the place to ourselves. But it has nice facilities and our guests would have tons to do over the weekend. Plus it has a spa on site!

Any suggestions? Input?

Re: SO NOT GETTING ANY WORK DONE!!!!

Ok, you might not want to hear it....

But I was EXACTLY where you were. Wow. I feel like I was reading an earlier post of mine. Every place I went to I was 90% happy. I was so tired of looking at places I was just going to book one of them. I thought I was just being really nitpicky and that I would be fine with the little details that I was harping on..

But I wasn't going to be happy. So I kept looking. If in your gut you don't feel comfortable about those little things, don't book it.

I would rule out the Cliff Inn. $400 ($200/night) is a lot to ask guests to fork over. I'd also consider ruling out Apple Valley. The ONE thing I DIDN'T like about Belvedere was that it was on a main road. Granted it was on top of a hill, but I didn't like the fact that a lot of traffic would be passing through during our ceremony. If you don't mind having 3 weddings happening at the same time, Stroudsmoor sounds great! I personally have never worred about that part (having more than one wedding going on - hey! You can high five the other brides in the bathroom!)...but I understand why some people are sensitive about it.

Is that place off NJ Turnpike still a possibility?
