I originally wanted to do maple syrup and possibly a personlaized bag of pancake mix, and my FSIL and FMIL say they are not classy enough.
Any other ideas? I really liked the syrup because it was keeping with the fall theme as well as the fact that we are getting married upstate! Now I'm not so sure!

I think it's perfect. Most of the favors people give out and your FIL's would say are more 'classy' are probably less expensive than the syrup, and can't be used. I've seen syrup favors in cute leaf shaped bottles..they were so pretty. you can use the syrup and then reuse the bottle!

I was going to use the leaf shaped bottles and make a personalized bag of pancake mix. My dad and I were going to buy the bottles and the syrup separately (you wouldn't believe the price difference!) and make our own mix. Then tie them together with raffia or something like that.
For both, between my finagling, and a little elbow grease, they come out to less than $4!

I definately think you should ignore the ILs on this one. It's a very cute and unique idea, plus you've got a cute story to go along with it. What's considered 'classy'? Something shiny and pretty that people will probably never even use? I know if I were a guest at a wedding, I'd much rather receive something like syrup and pancake mix.

I think that's an awesome gift and it sounds really personal! My family has a friend that lives in New Hampshire and she brougnt down a bottle of maple syrup last year and we couldn't wait to use it, so I think it's great!

I think that the maple syrup and pancake mix idea is great!!! I had a back and white theme and gave out homemade black and white cookies as favors. I guess I am just not a classy lady.

Hi, I think the maple syrup idea is so cute!! Very creative--My sister got married in October and she gave candy apples as her favor. Everyone loved the idea and called days after the wedding saying what a treat they were--If you need more info let me know!!
