Yeah I am getting anxious about that myself. I need some pointers from them.

PS Cocoa, I don't always answer your posts but they usually make me smile. You're so funny.

Good Question...

I wasn't there for that part, but I think the pros come in for that, box everything up, & store it for the family.
They give them new EVERYTHING (dishes, clothes, furnuiture, toys, etc...)
So the family can decide to start COMPLETELY over with all their NEW stuff, or they can go through the old stored items as well & add them back into the house when it's complete.
Nothing in the house can be moved, removed or added though (like pictures, furniture, etc...) until after the show airs, in case they need to fly back & film anything again.

wow- that's really interesting. I didnt' know they gave them new clothes!

Cocoa- I love watchign shows like Trading spaces, where they speed up the video of them cleanming out the room--when we had to move, & I told Dh i wanted a fast forward buton that would make me able to do that!

I always wondered how the whole thing works - do they knock on the family's door and it's a total surprise? Or are they notified beforehand? (Wouldn't the parent/parents have to know so they could take off of work?)

And how long does the whole process really take? Is it really only a week, including packing everything in the house up?

Q1. They knew they were nominated, but didn't know that they had actually WON until the cast came to the door! They were told that a producer would come to the house between a certain time & they would get a phone call saying whether they won or not (this way, the family would be up & ready).

Q2. The house ACTUALLY takes a week! Really, it was 5 days!!! Unbelievable, right!
ETA: Understand though, the production staff obviously knows who they chose long before, so they can get permits, make plans, etc... But the actual demolition & rebuilding of the new house takes a week.

thanks for the explanations! i'm always so curious about that stuff. I loved going by to watch your family's house being built and loved seeing the port-a-potties in neighbors backyards and stuff!
