So on Mother's day every.....

So on Mother's day every Year, my MIL and SIL get me a gift! I know they mean well but I am so superstitious and I get so pissed off! Especially since we told them how I feel about it and how they should not get me a gift. I feel like they are rubbing it in my face.

DH tries to explain that it's like giving him a Happy Grandparent's Day Card or gift.
I am not a mom yet........ so stop giving me gifts! Quit jinxing me! Am I overreacting?

Sorry, just needed to vent a little

I don't think you're overreacting at all. That would annoy me too!

Baby dust to you!

They really do mean well but it is very sensitive to me, especially since I had a miscarriage last year and still TTC.

yeah my MIL gets me a little something like a candle or something because she buys for her 2 daughters who are Mothers and doesnt want me to feel left out. Its a nice gesture but I know what you mean.

This would be my 1st Mother's Day... since we m/c in Feb... and if anyone mentions it to me, I think I'll slug someone! It's bad enough that it'll be on MY mind, I don't need anyone adding fire to it, ya know?

Judy I do NOT thing you are overreacting nor do I blame you for NOT wanting to get gifts on Mother's Day (especially given the fact you miscarried last year, and those feelings are still fresh and don't easily go away)

I know they mean well , but I would totally feel the say way you do..

Since my nephew was born (he's the first one on my side of the family) the past couple years my SIL has sent me Mother's Day cards from the baby.. 'to my favorite auntie' things like that. Its just a baby card, pretty generalized, etc., more like 'you are like a mom to me' etc

BUT I still think its a bit weird I'd NEVER say so, though - she means well!

I think it's weird to receive gifts on Mothers Day if you are not a mom, and esp if you are ttc, it's esp hard to receive one. Personally, I think it's inconsiderate and I think your feelings are normal.
