Wow, I can't believe (especially family) would do that to you. However, don't feel bad about being angry about the money (I know I would). Nobody realizes these days how hard and expensive it is to throw these weddings...and that a majority of the time you are going without to make sure that these guests and family members have a great time...ugh.
