So Stressed!!!!!

So Stressed!!!!!

And I didn’t even do any wedding planning!! I swear, discussing anything wedding related with my mother and sister (MOH) is hazardous to my health!!!! I picked my sister and her bf up to head over to my moms for dinner. From the SECOND she gets into the car, she’s asking a million and one questions and telling me, not suggesting, but TELLING me what she’s wearing, the shoes she’s wearing, what my other BM’s have to do etc. “I want these shoes” “Your BM’s can’t wear updos because no one looks good with an updo” etc. etc.

THEN! We get to my moms and I get her laptop and I start showing my sister some ideas, not decisions, just ideas I have for shoes and she says they are all hideous and then she shows me the ugliest shoes I have ever seen and says that these are the ones she wants. Ugh whatever! Oh, and then we start discussing bachelorette parties and my mom thinks that she and FMIL should go! Um, I don’t need my mother or FMIL there for the raunchiness that I hope my B party is!

And then! I don’t know if some of you remember but a couple of weeks ago, I called my mom out on this site for spying on me. This site to me is a place where I can talk about wedding stuff with OTHER BRIDES, stuff that my mom nor my sister need to or should listen to… a place where I can VENT about them (like I am doing now!) Well I had hoped after talking with my mom that she would respect my wishes and stop spying on me. Ha! I should have known! While I was on her laptop, in plain site in her history is LIW, my profile, and links to threads that I have posted in! Ones as recent as last night! So, I figured out how to put a password on her computer so that anytime she attempts to access this site, she has to enter the pw. It might seem mean but I feel violated that she is spying on me! Even if it’s my own mother!

I just wish the next 18 months will just go quickly because they are really starting to ruin wedding planning for me.

Awww Lizzie!!!! I'm sorry they are stressing you out. I would be frustrated too if my Mom and sister were like this.

As for your Mom and FMIL at the bachelorette party, if they really want to be a part of something perhaps you can all go to dinner first and they can be a part of that, and THEN you go out and do your thing. My mom would never ask [or want] to go to my bachelorette party.

I think you need to just ignore them and just pick out the things that you want for your wedding. If you sister doesn't like what you picked out you can either consider changing it OR you can tell her nicely that she can use those for her wedding.

Now for the LIW issue. I don't know what to say about that. Perhaps you need to explain to your mom that she is violating your privacy. Maybe she just wants to be included on more things and feels that this is the only way she will know whats going on.

Re: So Stressed!!!!!

I was thinking of doing a two party bach party because my one bridesmaid, my cousin, is in high school so I don't want her to feel completely left out. Not that I want anything too crazy, my ideal would be going out with my girls and my ballroom dance instructor (who is an awesome guy and, of course, a great dancer). I would love to find a joint like they went to in Swingers and swing dance all night, but any type of dancing is ideal. Then if I bring my dance instructor I can have fun, but not worry about a whole bunch of guys I don't know wanting to dance with me. For some reason that just is not so appealing. But I figure the first part, hopefully something spa-esque could be attended by my mom and FMIL.

awww I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this. Try not to let it get to you, it's your wedding and in the end you will be the one to choose whatever you want

I am sorry you are going through this. What I have been trying to do is take a deep breath, walk away and let them say what they have to say and know in my head that in the end they will do what I say, and if they don't like it then they can just stay home

Re: So Stressed!!!!!

I just wanted to let you know you are definately not the only one out there that has these issues. My mother and sisters are the same way, yes I said sisters. BTW.. my mom made sure i would pick one of my sisters to be my MOH. Ok.. how honestly would one feel if i don't choose the other one. I'd rather just have choosen a friend, but we all know that that would be a big no no with a mom. Are there really such things as Momzilla's? With that.. on another note, I work for a bridal salon. We have tons of people who come in complain for **** we honestly have no control over... I mean my first day, i was being yelled at because (even though she knew it was my first day) she told me it was my fault that her headpeice was wrong. and then you get some really honestly bitchy moms! Uggg! But yes, you'll get a bunch of posts about the bitchyness of my family as it unfolds too. (i'm unfortionately still early in the planning)
