i hate to say it, but I had gone to the Green Tree and the guy sounded like such a Charlatan that we just walked away. The rooms are gorgeous, b ut the background with the Cabana's and pool broke the deal.
I was engaged once before and we booked at the Marina Del Rey in Throgs Neck, New York.
check them out, they really are a beautiful RH and have beautiful grounds. just 5 minutes from Westchster so its convenient for everyone to get to

don't stress about the weather, it's not something you have any control over ... if it rains, then your ceremony will be indoors and just as beautiful

ETA: i've never been to GreenTree but the pictures look really really beautiful!!! But if you don't feel that it's the perfect place for you, then don't settle there

that really pretty picture that is posted of the outdoor wedding is NOTHING like that in real life! its so tiny that you wouldn't be able to fit many people there.
also, the main Reception room, pict posted above - its beautiful! the only beautiful room there - but to go outside guests have to leave from a side door, the last step is like 1½ off the gorund - i don't know how guests would step down, maybe jump down!
then you have to pass by the country club cabanas, a huge pool and an ugly tall black fence guarding the pool.

when you find the right hall, you'll know it!
did you look at any of the other RH on that street?

I'm getting married at Marina del Rey in Throgs Neck, it's right by the water if that is what you are looking for. They have great food, a large bridal suite, and an outdoor reception area. They are kind of pricey though but I think you get what you pay for (I hope so at least!!!)

My second choice was the surf club, but my fiance thought they were kind of snobby and rude so we didn't go with them.

My third choice was the Fountainhead in New Rochelle. My sister got married there last year. They have great food and service. I really liked that they only do one wedding at a time. The prices are very reasonable too. It's beautiful inside but they don't have any grounds outside for pictures or reception. They will get you a permit to go to glen island park or at glen island harbour club for pictures.

The Greentree looks very beautiful though! Don't doubt yourself too much, it looks like you have good taste

I've heard great things about Glen Island, although I've never been there. They were booked for our date when we were looking, so we didn't pursue it. It is in the area you said you were looking for.

I'm thinking of checking out VIP and Glen Island. I keep hearing good things about Glen Island but what about VIP. I like this area because its not so far from me and and not too long of a drive for my FI in PA. Those pics of Greentree really make me love the place but it just doesn't feel that way in person. Im not happy with the walk to the ceremony. and I agree about the fence around the pool. I really really wish I wouldn't have left a deposit. It felt right at the time and the owner was great. and it really was a good deal. I'm not looking to spend a lot and I was caught up in the moment. If i find another place, im making my poor FI call him up and get the money back.
