so thankful

that we are allowed to get married .. I am so excited to get married to FH and how it will bring us together and is bringing our families together and being surrounded by all the joy in the world. . and just talked to a gay male friend of mine in california today who was crying b/c Prop 8 was upheld. . I don't want to use this for a soapbox b/c I know that that's not the purpose of this board but it just makes me sad that not everyone has the right to do what we are doing. . I can not IMAGINE how I would feel if for whatever reason the gov't told me we could not get married. . and it wasn't so long ago black and white people could not get married etc. .so just wanted to take a moment to appreciate our rights and commiserate with friends who can't. .

I think it's sometimes very easy to get caught up in the wedding planning and being a bride - we forget what a wedding really is - a celebration of our love and commitment to each other.

I think it's sad that not everyone gets to celebrate their love in such a public way with the support of the community behind them.

We should all be thankful.....

ITA! This wedding is making me stress all the time.

I need to sit back and remember that none of this wedding stuff matters. Its the marriage that will make me the happiest woman alive!

Re: so thankful

I hope very, very soon this ban on marriage is lifted. It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard and I still don't quite understand it. How is marriage a privilege? Shouldn't it be a right? As long as two people aren't married to other people, why can't they marry each other?

::sigh::

I'm grateful I have found love in my life and we get to have our special day marking the beginning of our future together, but agree with you and am sad about all those people who can't. I hope this changes very soon.

I was going to post something on this as well, but like you I didn't want to get up on my soapbox, because I am sure not everyone here agrees with your (and my) viewpoint. Just wanted to you for saying something about it.
