So the more I look ...

So the more I look ...

... The more I dislike our wedding pictures ... I feel like they are just pictures, no emotion or depth to them.

Ladies, when you received your proofs, were you MUCH less 'wowed' than when you received your actual pictures?

i felt this way about our epics too, but every time i show them to people, they keep raving about how wonderful they are. i think we're all just our own worst critics. im sure your pics are gorgeous!!!

Totally agree with last two sentences...

Re: So the more I look ...

Examples:

There is a pic of my bouquet, focusing in on my charm that I put together in memory of my father. I forgot to glue it together, and in the picture, you can totally see that the picture is uneven, and coming out on one side - Why couldn't the photographer fix that before taking a closeup? I had a crystal bouquet holder, so it will be REALLY hard to edit (I'm guessing).

There is another picture of me with my bridesmaids, and you can see a cup of coffee sitting on the table in one, and my brothers head in another!

There are also minimal pictures of my train, the best part of my dress ... The pictures of my dress hanging up make the dress look sloppy, because the corset wasn't tied ...

Am I being too picky?

Dont worry so much about the proofs, I am sure all the little details they can fix with Photoshop. we had proofs with peoples heads, feet and stomachs in the way and it was all fixed

Would you rather have a coffee cup in the background or one of your photographers in the background of about 12 pictures? There's a picture of all of us taking a shot and there my photographer is, in the picture as if he was a part of it! Mind you, he's taken my picture since I was a kid but still, come on be professional!

Well, I guess I would rather have the coffee cup, lol ... but these are just examples of some issues I had. I have a few pics of the videographer in the background too ...

Since the ladies on here are so honest with their opinions, why not post some and let us see what you're talking about?? I'm sure there is someone on here that knows photoshop and can tell you what can and can't be photoshopped or edited.

Things can get cropped or colors can get fixed...I see what my students can do with photoshop and I'm AMAZED at what they can do!

Re: So the more I look ...

i hear this is common because we put so much attention and thought into the big day that once we see the pictures they dont meet our high expectations. my sister felt the same way when she saw her proofs and now that she has her book she loves her photos. it could be the wedding is too fresh in your mind give it some time by the time you see your album complete you will love them.

I agree!! I looked through our 500 'touched' up photos and i was definitely underwhelmed!

I almost started crying (probably did). I didn't get as many light hearted/fun pictures I would have liked. BUTT then I looked through all of the pictures, and I have to say I really LOVE them! So the more I looked through them, the more I love them.

There are a few shots I would have liked, but we got some great ones!

I didn't get ANY lighthearted/fun/whimsical shots - everything is posed, and very obviously posed!

I'm sorry lady! Maybe you can do a TTD shoot and get some other kinds of shots that you wanted to do?

I'm sure they're beautiful though!!!

There is a bride from 2009 that didn't like her original wedding pics, so she did a 'TTD' but it wasn't trashing the dress at all. She used Benchwerk and here is one of the photos:
