We wanted to push the wedding date to Fall 2010, but as you ladies heard from me yesterday, my caterer said the dates are most likely not available. Basically we are broke, I'm a recent college grad who is finalizing my substitute teaching paperwork and my FH is in construction, but has been out of work for 2 months.
Winter is out of the question as far as FH is concerned, but that's OK. Its his wedding too! I think pushing the wedding by a year will really give us a chance to rebuild ourselves financially! (Positive aspect)
Most likely, we are going to push this wedding til 2011 FSIL is getting married 5/21/11 and I don't want to take her month and I want to let her shine also.
How long after her wedding do you think is appropriate? I though that 7/2/11 (FH's B-day) or 7/9/11 is far enough.
I'm still a 2010er at heart though, I'll be on these boards enjoying all your stories pictures too!

if you don't want to wait that long just have a winter wedding - it is not that bad

Yes, I'm going to have to call them. So far they have been really cool about it. They must hear this all the time. We aren't planning on a HM either, so that will save $. My parents are taking care of the venue and caterer, its just that after all of us sat down, we discussed that we don't want to start the marriage off 'broke'. 4 months from now will not make much of a diff as far as how much $ I have. But I still am going to call them to see what we can do.

Would your FH be against a March '11 wedding? The hall may be cheaper then. Its still 4 months apart from FSIL, but then it won't be the dead of winter.

No she's in May, so its still too close. I'm gonna have to sit down with the caterer, she's really good. And we will come up with a solution.

I mean I think if you were to do it in August or something you would be fine?
I don't get the whole like...you can't get married b/c someone else is in the same certain amount of time span.
FH's cousin (well not blood but you know, they call her cousin) booked her wedding exactly a week after ours and neither of us care at all.
However, I know that some people make a big stink about these things..so maybe if you went to August that would be a fair compromise?
