I met with photographer last week on Friday....both FH and I fell in love with this person - but my parents wanted to see a couple of other places.....I called today to book - and they told me he was taken. Now....my father took a contract home last week - with this photographers name on it...don't you think out of courtesy - they would have called and let us know someone is ready to book - or even looking on my date? I'm heartbroken....they are trying to push another photographer on us - but after these business practices - I'm not sure I want to work with them anymore.... the only reason we would consider is b/c the offer the best prices - but then again - you pay for what you get....sorry to vent - but im mad - Thanks for listening!

they definitely should have let you know that you that someone else was ready to book them. I know since you left the may have thought you werent coming back but as far a good business practice they should have made sure. Sorry you will find something better

That does suck but most places will take the person in front of them ready to book. l'm sure you will find a great photographer

That's true. It does suck, but money is money, and they probably aren't going to walk away from a contract to call you

If you like the company and the work the other photographers do then use them if not find someone else. But don't hold the fact that they booked someone without telling you against them. A lot of people probably are like let me get back to you and then never heard from again so they rather take the booking in front of them it sucks but its business.

I'm sorry, that really sucks. I had a hall sold out form under me (and they had a $1500 deposit!) so I feel your pain. Some vendors told me they'd hold the date for x days, some told me they'd call, and others told me they would NOT call. I think it's a nice courtesy, but they are def going to take the bird in the hand, KWIM.
UGh. sucks. really sucks. I'd go elsewhere.
Check out Artisan. Chuck is the owner. you ONLY get Chuck. Not only is his work great, but he and his office manager, Lynn have amazing personalities. I just feel like they're really good people. They were really flexible with us when we changed our date. In fact, we postponed our wedding by 4 years and they were the ONLY vendor we kept. We ended up changing everything else, but we're so glad we stuck with Chuck (lol)

I've heard of some vendors holding your day for up to a week. that stinks that they didn't do that. maybe ask the photographer if you can see the one there suggesting to you to see there work they've done..
a similar situation happened to me with ours. My FH told me he wanted to wait till after Christmas bc it was crazy, forgot to inform the photographer & about 2weeks went by thinking there not going to give it away or noone will book this quickly. But we didn't take any written documents home saying who we would have with us like you did in your situation. But when we eventually before going back asked if he could email me some work the photographer being assigned to me has done & was stunned!!!
If you aren't planning on going back to whatever photographer you met with, I do suggest you check out Lighthouse Photography. Amazing staff, great prices & excellent quality photos!! You will not be disappointed in them!!!

Depends on the photog. They may or may not be worth it... there might be other with similar styles and less shoddy business practices. FM me who it was?

I know you're upset because it is a sucky situation but you cant exaclty be mad at the studio for conducting business. I mean did you exactly tell them you're very interested in them and to hold the date and you'll get back to them. Because unless you did that they do not have to contact you what so ever. This is the wedding industry they see about 30 brides a day, they have people take contracts home and never call back to book and like they say cash is king, you cant really call it bad business. I know its sucky but you cant really blame them.

Yes! I would think that taking a contract with the specific photographer's name would be enough - we told them we loved him!

Unfortunately in the business world they can't read us unless we tell them were we're at. If you seemed interested in booking, a call would have been nice. If they were a vendor on a list of 3 more you were scoping out and you didn't ohh and ahhh while there and said you'd follow up I would not expect to contact you. It's not easy sometimes because you want to make the right decision

The problem is FH works overnites - he comes to meetings thurs or fridays - he's annoyed b/c he thought we were done....now he's being a big baby and said only make appointments on fridays - it will take me until my wedding to find someone

They are suppose to call you and give you heads up!!!
However, I would call and tell them that the only way you would book them is if '******' is your photographer, not the other guy.
