So upset. Dry Cleaner shrunk my Shower Dress

Original post by NapaValleyGirl

I went to the dry cleaner last week. I bought a brand new BCBG dress for $280. It was a bit big so I took it to the dry cleaner by my mother's house.
Big Mistake.

I tried it on tonight (shower is Sunday) and the woman cut off too much material from the straps. It looks like a mini dress now and it's totally ruined.

I've wasted 280 dollars on a dress, 29 dollars in alterations and I have nothing to wear to my shower.

I've been crying and my mom feels so bad. She has no idea that I know my shower is on Sunday... I can tell she is panicking...

how thick are the straps? maybe if u show her how she messed up she can change the straps completely if its a simple thin spaghetti strap

This is what it kinda looks like. Now, the empire is like where my boobs are and it looks totally bizarre...http://www.edressmeprom.com/promacf6au19.html#

If she can't fix it to your satisfaction then you can take the dry cleaner to small claims court. Keep your receipt and document all your discussions w/ them. take pictures of yourself in the dress.

You should call the flagship BCBG store and see if they know if any stores have that dress in stock.
The dry cleaner should replace your ruined dress.

Aww, I'm sorry. I don't blame you for being upset. But, it's worth a shot to go talk to her...there still may be something she can do.

So, it looks very similar to the one in the picture? I understand now. Maybe you can go to a fabric store and get a piece of organza or white sheer fabric and use that as an extender...just an idea.

Worst case scenario, if there isn't anything she can do tomorrow, bring your receipt and insist she reimburse you.

Let us know how it goes.
