so school starts on monday and not only am i scared and nervous that im not going to do well but now i have the burden of 11k in more loans added to the 30k i already have in school loans.. and planning a wedding alone since FH has no brain of his own.. its getting to be too much... this whole loan thing is realyl making me mad.... its called a STUDENT loan... why in the HELL are they charging me 10.25% INTREST????? thats outrageous!!! are they insaine... there is no way the govt or anyone else is trying to make school more affordable for ANYONE!!!... im sorry this is so pointless but im sure someone else out there feels the same way i do!! thanks for listening or not!

You are going to nursing school if I remember correctly. Do you have any idea how much opportunities you are going to have to work? Some hospitals offer tuition repayment options and just about if not all offer some kind of tuition reimbursement for you to continue your education (i.e. R.N.) FM me if you'd like.

i never heard of such a high interest rate on a student loan sorry megan but just remember that your education stays with you forever and its the best $$ you could spend

this is salliemae giving it to me in the butt i tell ya!!.. its because im taking the loan out on my own.. and not only do i have about 35k total on student loans i also have a loan out for my car.. so my credit prob. stinks!..lol i applied with my mom as a cosigner.. just waiting to see if the intrest comes down at all

oh boy!
i wanted to go back to school to get my bachelors. I have an AOS but they said that most of my credits wont carry over because it was a private school and i am changing my career.
Im taking two summer courses and paying in cash. I figured the Spring and Fall semesters i would take the loan but pay the in between, summer and winter classes, by cash.
Plus planning this wedding!!!!!
My FH is the same way, I always get....'i trust your judgment'

yea but i was in the same boat and it wasnt so high i understand totally, i owe over $45000 but i wouldnt have my job without it so i cant regret it at all try another company? i have www. mygreatlakes.com

My brother is going to MED school next January and as you can imagine his student loans are crazy, but the worse part is that the first place he got his loans from thinks his out of school already, and is trying to collecte payments. so he has to call them every month and fight with them to freez the accunt till he graduates....

Hmmm, I have about 40k in student loans myself, but am not paying that much inteest. Who is your lender? Maybe it is time to look into another bank, if you haven't already. It is totally depressing when you think about it, but it is worth it and you have a while to pay it back. Don't worry too much. It is what it is.

Don't worry about it- that is nothing compared to what I have in debt from law school which costs 40,000 a year just for tuition! You just have to try not to think about it and look at is as an investment more than anything. The interest rates on private loans are ridiculous but they know you need the money. Just think you will get a great job and pay your loans back early without paying all of that money in interest!

I totally hear you....after i finish in may, i'll be almost 100K down in student loans!!! i had to consolidate while i was in school to lock the lower rates since they increased every year...

ohhh friends...you have no idea. i have over $90,000 in student loans. about 30,000 of which are out at a rate of about 9%...complete and total robbery. thank goodness im lucky and my parents are paying for a wedding, or we'd be hitch-hiking to vegas!
i wouldn't have had nearly as much out in loans if it weren't for my failed attempt at law school...a mistake i will literally be paying for for the rest of my life. sweet.

I totally agree....my aunt is a head nursing manager at a one of the university hospitals in plainview and they hire nurses right out of college at 62k...and this was several years ago so it must be higher and you worked i believe 3 12 hour shifts a week. You may hate the loans and I totally feel ya...i have 45k+ in loans and it *****....plus the wedding is on FH and I. I would take the advice of others and try to consolidate....over 10% interest is way too high.....unfortunately if you dont catch the rates before the july 1st deadlines you get stuck.....

It's really ridiculous how much school is. I feel like colleges are more of a business rather than an educational insitution, so they just want money and that's all they care about.
