I just got off the phone with my Photgrapher I called to tell him that we have changed our photo spot and to tell him I got the release from my church for him to sign and he asked where I was getting married again because he didnt have my paperwork in front of him. i told him St Patricks in Bay Shore and he goes Oh no they are the absolute worst....so I said why? He said they are VERY strict with the picture taking policy, they tell them where they can stand and how close they can get etc. He said 'I have to tell you this because I dont want you to think me missing all these shots is my fault, But they wont allow me to take pics coming down the isle or going up the isle and the spot they make me stand in is across the crowd and the pics come out like someone from the audiance took them'
I am sooooo upset right now I have been crying just thinking of not having certain pics I have pictured having and now may not be able to have It is too late to book another church because my invites are already printed i dont know what to do.

I think alot of churches are strict like that. I'm sure your photographer will do his best to get as many pics possible.

Awww...I'm sorry. What my photographer suggested, since I booked him waaay before the church, that whatever church we do choose, if they say that, then we can 're-enact' the pics so we really don't miss anything. As for the BP going up and down the aisle, I'm sure he'll be able to squeeze in there quickly to get a shot, and to have all the guests in the pews. If anything, he'll have to be further back - but he should be able to swing it. I would confirm more details with the church IMO.

ok even if this is the churches rule.. if the photog steps out of the certain 'zone' they make him stand in - exactly what are they going to do? Throw you out and NOT marry you? Id say go along with whatever ridiculous rules they have and tell your photographer he MUST get the shots you want..

He said he shot a wedding there recently and the woman told him if he stepped out she would stop the ceremony and the organist and they would not restart until he is in his place

Actually, Ive never seen this happen but I have heard of churches going to this extreme.. I dont get it but I know most churches are really strict about where the photogs stand and whatnot.. so its not as easy as saying you must get this shot,

Re: SO UPSET RIGHT NOW
St. Pats is extremely strict, but I have seen pics and video from St. Pats that are great. There are designated places they have to be, but they can still take decent pics.

I am getting married there too. I spoke to the deacon that is marrying us and he said he doesnt care as long as they dont block everyone's view. So to me my photographer is going to stand wherever I want him to.

I am sure that my Deacon will say the same but its the Lady (and I know exactly who he is talking about) That gives the problem Hopefully she wont be there and all will be perfect for me I am trying to be optimistic and not worry until there is something to worry about.

HA!! He's talking about Phyllis! She's HORRID! Be prepared...she WILL be mean to EVERYONE at your rehersal.
Listen, your photographer will be fine. I got married there in October. And really the rules only state that the photog cannot be on the alter (and why would you even want him/her to be?!). I have pictures of myself walking up and down the aisle, front and back. Pictures of each reader, pictures of us sitting at the alter, saying our vows. You'll be fine, trust me.... Oh and Phyllis didn't stop the ceremony once... she sat behind my BMs off to the side.
