so upset...Bridesmaid

Original post by Soon2BeMrs2006

One of my BMs just emailed me saying that she won't be able to commit to being a BM due to her schedule now. she's in med. school and will be in miami the months surrounding the wedding.

I'm so upset

Im sorry to hear that

Its good that she gave you well-in-advance notice, so you still have time to pick someone else.

And the most important thing is that your still freinds

Thing is I don't want to just put someone in randomly you know and shes a friend i grew up with. and i feel kind of angry too because she could have todl me this 3weeks ago when i sent out an update email to all the girls letting them know the latest wedding updates and how we'll start dress shopping in september/october and yet she replies three weeks later and i know she read it the same day i sent that email.

Honestly maybe she didn't realize how time consuming school would be. I just graduated from law school in May so I can understand how involved it is and I'm just getting my life back now. I think you need to understand that she at least tried to give you more than fair notice. She could have tried to see if she would still be able to do it and then realized she wouldn't. I understand you're upset but you're not being fair to her.

i do completely understand I'm 6 courses away from finishing my Masters degree the next three semesters I'll be working fulltime, doing three internships, plus my other remaining 3 courses and then getting married amongst all this so i do understand. but i knew she had med. school and always told her we'd work around her schedule all i cared about was that she was by my side on my wedding day.

but she WILL be by your side on your wedding day. She didn't say she couldn't come to the wedding, she just said she couldn't be a bridesmaid. Really in the end the only difference on your wedding day is that she isn't wearing a matching dress and doesn't pose for formal pictures. She'll still be right beside you. You can invite her to be a part of any bridal party activities... I have a friend who isn't a bridesmaid who will probably come with us when we get our hair done, etc... she just doesn't have to fork out the money for all of the bridesmaid obligations.

Are you sure she didn't just find out that she was accepted? I know this to have happened to people, finding out 1-2 weeks before the school year begins.

I'm sorry, at least she let you know instead of just giving you problems with being in the party.
