So upset/nervous

So upset/nervous

Well, I have been scheduled for my version in less than two hours. The Dr that my OB previously used for versions, no longer does them. He found one, but I have to go today because they can't fit me in before the crucial 37 wk period that they have to be done in. Not only am I scared as I have now had little time to actually prepare myself, but we cannot leave for LI like we had planned. Now I am not even sure that I will be able to make it and I don't want my husband to leave me alone...unfortunately his niece is being baptised on Sunday and he is the Godfather!

I really can't help but cry on how everything has been turning out lately!

I understand how you feel and it is a lonely place sometimes. I would recommend your DH staying w/ you since a version can help bring labor on. I? have complete faith that this procedure will go well for you and the baby

Shamma- the version is when a doctor (not nurse or midwife, ONLY a doctor) does an u/s of the baby's position and then manually tries to turn the baby from the OUTSIDE of your stomach area. Depending on the position of the baby, it depends on how and if the doctor can do the turn. A version can only be done in a hospital setting. There are times that a baby will turn back to the orginal position or that the baby refuses to turn. The version is only attempted for a few minutes and that determines if the baby 'feels' like turning or not. Versions are very safe.

nancy- I was told that because of my GD I was not allowed to have one but I should have gone for a second opinion about this. I think you are doing the right thing with trying the verision. I am going to be with you in spirit that day!!!!!

oh Nancy, this is the final lesson learned during pregnancy I think. You simply cannot know what to expect. It's so frustrating after months of thinking you know what's coming, taking the classes, preparing the schedules, setting up the nursery and so on - and then WHAM you are sidelined with something unexpected and the whole plan goes kaput.

Just look at it this way. What this means is that your little itty bitty is ready to have a mind of it's own and start calling some shots! It's the first of many many moments when you'l wanna scream HEY WHO'S IN CHARGE HERE!!??

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
