I've posted quite a few times about getting some help with canceling my date at Leonard's of Great Neck on Feb 16, 2007. I'm getting no responses. It's driving me nuts and scaring me. We will lose out on a large deposit if nobody books. I get so peeved when I see so many posts about tv shows and nosy coworkers with so many responses and I'm getting nada. Sorry to vent- It's so frustrating though. We just can't go through with it right now- more personal and critical family matters heed our attention.

i'm sorry to hear that you can't go through with your planned wedding right now. i wish there was something i could do. i'm getting married in nj.

that's so sweet of you- I'm feeling like George Bailey in 'It's a Wonderful Life'. LOL I hope all my good deeds pay off. It's so horrifically scary. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. We sure could use them.

Im so sorry to hear about your dilemma, but I thought I saw some responses and suggestions to your problem posted before...?
Didn't someone suggest posting it on craigslist? Have you tried posting it the knot?
Unfortunately, I think you aren't receiving responses because 1) people have already booked their hall or 2) there isn't much that can be done since you've already signed on the dotted line and committed to that date.
I know you're frustrated, but don't get mad at us

I am sorrry sweetie and I am sorry you are going through some tough times right now... I wish I could but we are booked already! Even though I wanted to get married around valentine's day! Good Luck and I am sure someone will bite did you post on 08 maybe someone will want to move it up....or on 07 just in case someone has not booked yet?

I'm not mad at anyone it particular- maybe at ourselves for putting down so much it just *****. I tried the knot-nada- I wasn't exactly sure where to post on craigslist- i posted in community- nada. ayayayayayayyayay- Thanks for the thoughts. I have tried all the other suggestions too- I've even posted in the MOM, DIY, and vendors helping brides section- lol

try posting on the brides 2008 message. maybe you will have more luck there. Also post on other wedding sites like theknot.com. Good luck.

Try posting on craigslist under 'general' in the for sale section, and I would also try the 'wed' section under the discussion forums.

i'm sorry that you are going thru tough times both with family and now financially with this wedding. i wish i could help, but i'm getting married in 37 days so i'm booked and the only 2 friends that i have that are getting married are booked as well. i have an eye and an ear out for you though. best of luck

I know its frustrating because you have a lot of $$ at stake....but have you tried talking to Leonard's??
FH had a friend who broke off his engagement at a different hall, he couldn't rebook the date, but the hall actually told him he could use the money he had put down towards having a party there at another time, which I thought was really nice of the hall....try talking to them now, while they still have time to book another party for February, the more time you leave them to rebook, the better the possibility they'll be leniant.

yea have u tried talking to ur BM?? , maybe u can have some other party that day, or u can use the $ towards something else sortve like 'store credit' i know some halls allow you to do that...
and the reason no one is responding is because February is right around the corner, most people have already booked their dates, or are interested in another date,

I'm sorry I would try putting an ad in newsday or your local peenysaver. Keep putting it on Craig's list and I would try E-bay. Hope this helps. Sorry for not responding.

You could post an ad on Weddingchannel.com. They have chat boards there too, but I know it's not as busy, but still the more you get it out there the better. I would keep up with craigslist. You can re-post it again every 3 days (or something like that). Good luck, if I hear of anyone looking for a hall I will mention this!!

You could try to ask local bridal stores if you could put a display/ad in their store (by the register).
Other places to try also to put an ad:
- do you have a family members who belongs to a church? They could ask to put an announcement in their church bulletin - tailor/wedding alteration places - florists - town clerks (marriage licence): I don't know if they would accept your ad but you never know until you ask. If they tell you NO, ask them if they have any suggestion. - Create a 'my space' account and advertise there.( just be careful with your own safety though).
DON'T GIVE UP!!!
Those are just 'ideas' but try to thing where brides (or mother of brides) could go shopping and see the ad.
You could also put an ad in the penny saver/ town crier.... but I am not sure people read those really!
And best ad of all.... networking!!! Tell as many people as possible.
