So we're about to go for our marriage license....UPDATE - WE HAVE OUR LICENSE!!!

and FH can't find his damn birth certificate.

And I just called the Town of Smithtown, and they said he needs to show both the drivers license and the birth certificate. I tried to tell him a passport will kind of be the same as a drivers license to them.

Oh no...did FH ask his parents if they know where it could be or did they give it to him already? Good luck finding it...... I wish I had a helpful suggestion.

He's pretty sure he has it, but what ticks me off is I've been telling him about this from a week ago, and of course he waits until the last minute to start looking for it, and now the apartment is a wreck because he is throwing things everywhere looking.

If he can't find it, go to a different town hall that doesn't require a birth certificate. I don't know about the requirements for town halls on LI, but NYC only requires 1 form of ID, which can be a drivers license or passport.

Why do men always wait until the last friggin minute for everything. MY FH does this and it drives me insane. I know what u are going through sweety.

Town of Hempstead did not require a birth certifcate, we used our passports and driver license.

I dont see why they would refuse you on that in order ot get a drivers licens you need your other id and to get a passport you need even more id

UPDATE: I started calling every town clerk close to us to see if there was one that didn't require the birth certificate, and the Town of Babylon in Lindenhurst was one of them. So we went there, and now we have our marriage license!!

However, I know FH will continue to tear the apt apart looking for the BC when he gets home!!

So we can just to the Town of Hempstead with a passport or drivers license and get our license. My FH can't find his either.

Or you can go to the Town of Babylon, whichever is closer to you.

You can also get a copy of your birth certificate within a weeks time if you go to the Dept. of Vital Records. You can also apply for it online.

I had to do this, because I applied for my passport about 3 weeks ago, so they still have my original birth certificate, and it's falling apart anyway. So I requested a new one, and used the new birth certificate for the marriage license.
