So What Is Your Progress? Let's Motivate Each Other Ladies!!!
Original post by Nitania13
So I figured since MOST of us are on some sort of fitness routine for our big day I'd post this to see where everyone is at, how much further they have to go and how long they have left. I'll start it off: Current Weight: 133.5lbs Goal Weight: 115 - 120lbs (I'd be happy with 120lbs, but 115lbs is an ultimate goal) Months Left Until Wedding: A little over 8 1/2 months I'm working out hard and eating healthy so I'm optimistic. What about the rest of you ladies?
Also, post anything you've found really helpful in your journey!!

I'm 5'5' and weigh about 136. My stomach is pretty flat (eat that fiber ladies!!) but my legs really are a problem spot and I'd like to slim my thighs down but can't do squats or any of that becuase of my knees. I feel like if I could lost the thighs I could get to under 130, which is my goal. Although my mother would tell you I'm too skinny already. I wish liposuction was in the wedding budget!
FH read in my woman's health magazine that they did a study where all women at the same food but one group increased their fiber intake to 24 grams/day. The women with more fiber absorbed 90 fewer calories than the ones who ate the same food but less fiber. That's like doing an extra 15 minutes of cardio without the sweating!

Wow, I go to sleep and tnhen wake up and this post has become a runaway success, lol. I'm happy to say ladies that I lost another 1 1/2 lbs yesterday and woke up at 132lbs!! I also ate super healthy and had a kick a$$ workout yesterday so I just have to keep the momentum. And since I'm only 5' 2.5' I need to bring down my weight a lot more!!

I gained some weight when i first moved in with FH (boys can eat! jeesh). Now I'm back to myself, I'm 5'0 and 95lbs, which is fine except my ABS STILL ARENT FLAT. its rediculous. so, more food, more treadmill, hoping to find my abs by august!! If anyone has any good ideas workout-wise, to relocate my abs, let me know

FIBER! You have no idea. And black tea seems to work for me too. If you're 'regular', your abs are much more likely to be flat. And lots and lots of water.

I'm down a total of 13 lbs since the holidays... at total of 41lbs since FH popped the question. I have been doing the shred daily, sometimes twice in one day...eating about 1k calories, and staying away from grease or anything fatenning. I want to drop about 25 more lbs by the wedding...Oy.
I watched the biggest loser last night and one of the problems a guy had was that he was working out like crazy and not dropping weight. The trainer figured out that he wasn't eating enough and so he didn't have enough energy and his metabolism wasn't kicking in enough. they stressed how he needed to eat a very well-balanced diet and how he also needed to eat whole grain bread and stuff, even though it might sound counterintuitive.
I was just going to type the same thing!
1,000 calories a day is very low. You prob need around 1,200-1,500.

Hey, I know you have bad knees (mine aren't so great either - family plight), but you're not going to get as much definition as you'd like w/out doing some lower body exercises. I know TONS of exercises so how bad are your knees exactly? Here are a couple of low impact things you can try: 1. SWIMMING!!!! Very low impact and kind ot your knees. To work only your lower body try taking either a tiny boogie board and do laps using ONLY your legs to propel you. Trust me, after lap 10 you'll be dying. I was on a varsity swim team all throughout HS (we were #1 in Queens for 6 years and #2 or 3 in NYC for several years too) and I used to swim 3500 yards a day! Swimming is the ultimate low impact workout. 2. Put your treadmill on a huge incline and walk as fast as you can. I like to put it on a 5.0-7.0 incline and walk about 4.0-4.6 miles per hour. It's not nearly as hard on your joints as running (although I love running too, but it's not low impact). If it's too hard, just adjust your incline or speed until you can work up to it. 3. And of course, weight training. To define without bulking up you want to do 2-3 sets of higher reps (12-15 reps). If you have proper form you won't hurt your knees. When you do lunges and squats make sure that your knee never goes past your toes when squating down and making your leg into a right angle. If you knee is extending past your toes you're putting undue strain on your knees and will eventually hurt yourself. Your muscles should be feeling the strain, not your knees. And remember if you can easily do 12reps then your weight is too light. You should barely be able to get out those last 2 reps.
I have tons more workouts (my mom weight lifted for 20 years, 6days/week) and my brother who's an Airborn Ranger and special forces for the military and a fitness nut actually learned about weight lifting from my mom, lol. She was always ridiculously sculpted w/out being manly. This was a woman who was 5'9' and 136lbs of solid muscle after having 3 kids and never had a single stretch mark (*****! hahaha) If you have any questions FM me!! HTH!
OHHH and I totally agree with the tons of Fiber!! I've been eating about 34g/day and it's been amazing help!

Thank you! I'll try some of this. They're pretty bad from fencing all through high school and college and I don't want to burn them out because then I can't do cardio. But I'll start slowly and work up to it. My legs will be covered for the wedding but a month later is the honeymoon and then I'll be wanting to show them off!

Yeah, I completely hear you. I see all of my old friends on Facebook that have pics of themselves in bikinis and I'd love for my FH to be able to post some smoking hot pick of me on our honeymoon so I completely understand. I'd say if you're REALLY concerned definitely try the swimming. I don't know if you belong to a gym that has a pool, but it'll REALLY help and put no strain on your knees. It's amazing. HTH!! And I'm sure you'll look stunning both on your day and on your honeymoon!!

I LOVE mini-wheats! And you know, the frosted ones don't have THAT much sugar. I mix the frosted and unfrosted.

I'm down 40 lbs since October when I joined Jenny Craig and started going to the gym again. I either run/walk mixture on the treadmill for 40 mins or do elliptical. Weights for arms and situps. WEdding is about 4 months away and I have 25 lbs more I'd like to lose...

I am down a whopping 4 lbs!
I am actually down about 7-8 because I had gained a few lbs when my stepdad passed away but I don't count that..
In a perfect world, I would like to lose 20 more lbs but I know that will never happen (I haven't been that thin since I was in high school!) so I would be really happy if I just lost 10 more.

I agree. Too little is not a good thing- that is why the pounds are taking forever to come off. FM if you have any questions Dani!
