So when it's all said and done. What are you planning to do with your WEDDING DRESS??
Original post by marc_rai
We may have cried over it. Loved it. Hated it. Bought one of it, only to buy another one. But Ladies, what are you planning to do with your WEDDING GOWN/DRESS after your wedding? I don't think I''m gonna save it because if I ever do have a daughter she probably would not want to wear it (or it may not fit her).
I was thinking of having it turned into a quilt or maybe a christening gown for future children? The quilt idea is foremost on my mind though.
The dying it black is a shout out to kdrainey So what are you gonna do?

i honestly had no idea and then the other day FH and i were looking at tuxes for my sisters wedding and he's just like 'you're preserving your gown right? so our daughter can wear it one day?' and it was just so sweet and thoughtful i almost started crying. so yeah, i'm preserving it.. if i have a daughter and she doesn't like it no big deal.. i'll figure something out then.

One of the best things my Mom ever did was to let my sister and I play with her and my Aunts wedding dresses while growing up. We had endless hours of fun with them. My sister actually used the memories in her speech at my wedding. I completely plan on letting my nieces and (maybe) daughter play in mine the same way!

As bad as it sounds, it will become a dust collector and if I have a daughter and she wants to play in it or wear it, then it will have a use again.

I'll probably end up donating it eventually. That's what I did with all of my prom dresses.
I want someone who is less fortunate than myself to be able to enjoy the dress as much as I did. I think that everyone should have the opportunity to wear a dress that they love on their wedding day.

I've already told FH that I will be wearing it at home from time to time. I like it too much to wear it only once!

probably decide between donating it, or keeping it for my daughter (probalby more so to play dress up then to wear it on her wedding day...god knows by the time she gets married my dress would be so 2005 lol)

i'm sure I would love my daughter to wear it , but I also know I didn't want to wear my moms even though it fit me etc. My dress is 2 pieces so I've been really considering having the skirt made into a christening gown and just keep the top as a keepsake. Hopefully I'll have a bunch of kids who can wear it at their christening
