So where do I start with changing my name?

So where do I start with changing my name?

I saw the thread from the 07er who told everyone everything that needs to be changed, but where do I start? I dont know where to begin to make it legal. Anyone kno?

Hmmmm.......dont quote me on this but I believe once you have your marriage license, you go to the DMV first. From there you start changing all of your personal things like bank accounts, credit cards, etc. Their is actually a name changing 'kit' you can get from some bookstores and prob online.
Again, I'm not exactly sure of all this, it's just what I have gathered from here and there.

i did mine all out of order

i did everything like CC and all that kind of stuff BEFORE we were actually married

then i waited for our certificate to come back and changed my bank info

and the only things i have left to do is DMV and Social Security

We aren't doing the official name change until after the HM in May. It's too much of a hassle right now since I don't have enough time to get a new passport.

Good question since I have NO clue about what to do at this point. I might want to start contacting the CC companies and car insurance etc.

You need to start with your SS card and then the DMV and then the Passport and then your bills, and anything else that needs to be changed. That is what I am doing.
