so while i am sitting here at work guess what fh did

he bought a GUN!!!!!!

he is crazy he works with guns all day long since he is an armorer in the marines. he fixes then takes them apart puts them together. so he loves them lol

well he got extension money because he extended his time to go to iraq so they give you money which is nice. i told him to do whatever he wants with it instead of putting it into the savings for the wedding. but guess what he did with it

bought a rifle so he can take it apart and crap and take it to the range and shoot it. i dont really care i have shot a gun before with him and it is kinda fun

but i was amazed at how fast he got it. he had it in the car within the hour of looking at it. since he has a secret clearance for the military the shop called the FBI and said he was good to go lol

How do all of you feel about owning guns!!??

its a no-no. FH goes hunting every fall. and every fall i go thru the whole 'my cousin vinny' skit as he is packing. all the guns are up in the hunting cabin so i dont have to actually deal with seeing them. he knows im against them in the house at all.

i completely understand. yeah fh will definitely have to keep it locked up and seperate from bullets the whole deal

but you know what i was scared sh*tless of shooting a weapon when we went the first time. however, after i did shoot it, i felt like the mystery of a gun was gone in my head. i shot the gun and now i know what its like and i wont have to worry about hummm i wonder what it feels like (well you know some kids want to know what its like to hold it and shoot it and thats how accidents happen).

but it also scared me to death to know that people can actually aim at you and shot you after shooting the gun. but it also allowed me to know if i ever needed it i would be able to use it

I think if you learn how to use it, keep it locked up the appropriate way and educate the kids in the house on it then it isn't a bad thing to have.

We have 1 handgun. FH hunts so we also have 2 shotguns. I told FH that I need to know how to use the handgun if it's going to be in the house. We will be getting one of those safes that you can open with a fingerprint soon after we get married. I will not have one that is easily accessible when we bring children in this world.

I didn't really know how I felt about it until recently. A guy broke into someone's house in the next town over. He robbed the place and tortured and burned the mother and 2 daughters all while the father was at work. (I live in CT) This is what he came home to. My FH will not come home to this. Ever.

He actually keeps it next to the bed, under the nightstand next to his side, not with the clip in but it's close. When I first moved in I didn't like it one bit. I just wasn't used to it. Now it doesn't bother me one bit.

One night someone was outside our house yelling. Probably just some drunk moron walking the streets. When FH head this he loaded the gun and walked out of the room and I stayed in bed. I am not going to lie, I was scared. But something about it was so amazing, to know that this man can actually protect me if need be. I have never felt so safe in my entire life.

You know what the funny thing is? I don't think he could shoot some one if he tried, obviously unless someone was trying to kill him or something. He hunts and feels bad after he kills a deer! (DON'T TELL HIM I TOLD YOU THAT!! )

wow i am suprised at home many people want guns in their home or dont mind. i thought i was the only person who didnt mind.

but kelly i agree i will always ask my kids friends parents if there is a gun in the home just as my mother did.

but i will def educate my children especially if fh becomes a cop after the marine corps.

I have shot guns...there will NEVER be a gun in my home.....and before my kids can go on a play date ask if there are guns in the home ...If there are no kids in the house different story

I don't know if I would have ever thought to ask that or if my mother ever thought to do it. I will have to ask her. I had one friend growing up whose dad was a cop and I know her mother made it a point to let mine know there was a gun in the house.

i'm all for BB Guns and Paintball Markers... but as far as the real thing goes... i'm not cool with it.

It's not that guns 'scare' me... I'm just not comfortable with them. to be honest, i'm so nervous and have such bad anxiety that if we had a gun, i'm afraid i'd hurt someone b/c i'd be too quick to use it.

or... i'd be too afraid to use it and the bad guy would take it from me and shoot me....

either way, not comfortable at all.
my brother was a cop and lived at home and had his gun at home and i hated it. i hated knowing it was in the house i hated seeing him have it on him, i hated when he'd clean it...
he was very good about showing me the gun, and telling me never to touch it and not making it a secret so that i didn't go looking for it like some 'kids' might have. (i was a pre teen/teenager not a little kid at the time)

but still...

it's funny b/c i like 'guns' i think they are pretty and shiny and i like to hold them... but bullets... bullets are the problem.

see i was the opposite about holding it and everything. the first gun i held fh took all the bullets out and then took a part off the gun that even if there were bullets in it it would not fire. but i was sooo nervous saying to myself OMG i am holding a weapon that could kill someone. but i got over it after i shot the gun

i still will ask my kids friends parents if they have them and make sure i educate my children on the fact that there is a gun in the house. however i will not even know the code to the safe that fh will keep it in. i do not feel the need to i mean even fi there was a robber in my house i would probably be too scared to shot because i would know that i had killed someone and would have to live with that hte rest of my life

since DH is a cop--he has a gun. he doesn't like leaving it in his locker--so he brings it home every night.

i have to say--at first i didn't like that idea of it--but DH sat there and made me learn about the gun, loading it, holding, rocking the slide, etc. and ever since--i swear i freaking love the feel of it!

he wants to get another one as an off-duty--its a litlte too expensive right now, but i'm sure eventually he'll get it---but i don't think i would want anything more than just those 2 handguns in the house.
