everyone keeps telling me I should do this as a side business. It may be something to think about but onbviously not until after the wedding and honeymoon and everything is settled down.

I've wanted to do this for awhile now. I used to be an event planner for my old company and really miss doing it.

i did it for six years and i am effin shot!!!

I was working for a couple off premise catering companies, and I wanted to shoot myself. Yes its glamorous, and 'fun' but when it comes down to it you really have to be on your game and when one thing gets messed up, be it your mistake or someone else's its really hard to take.

Ive been screamed at when the grooom sent me the tables were set up wrong, but it turned out the groom sent me the wrong floor plan. even though it was totally his fault and he admited it, it put a bad taste in the brides mouth for the rest of the night and she was a raging biutch to me. she didnt say goodbye and she didnt tip me.

sometimes i felt like i was volunteering instead of working because people didnt pay me. I had to argue with people to hand over money. Im like this is your wedding not mine. I almost cancelled a couples wedding because they kept bouncing checks, and tried to pay a personal check the day before the wedding, when their contract clearly stated 10 days prior with cash or bank check.

overall it was wonderful and amazing, but right now with this economy it is not a wise idea to start up a business like this. the only people that are thriving are those that have been in the industry forever. I was making no money, and the good profitable parties were few and far between

i do miss it though so I will offer advice to anyone who wants! (free of charge i swear~I might hold you to buy me a drink at the next g2g though!)

I work for a family business where people refuse to pay all the time and you have to chase people for money...and some people know how to get away with it....it's so frustrating! And so wrong!

So every time I think about being my own boss...I think about all the crap that goes with it....

But I do LOVE planning....not just weding stuff but trips, gatherings, etc....I'm trying to figure out what I should be doing with my life allll the time!

Oh and I'm also designing my own STD's, menus, invitations, CP's, etc....so if you like them you can feel free to hire me. But I also would love to help anyone if they liked my work!

All of this planning/designing prompted me to set up a small etsy shop.. for custom monograms..

I know I was looking for a monogram on there and then I thought, SHOOT.. I can do this!
