So...if you bought your gown at a salon, would you take it elsewhere for alterations?

Or is this risky?

My sister is making me nervous about it. She says, 'what if you get in the car and god forbid you have an accident and something happens to it?'

I know that Lillette's will charge me up the butt for alterations...and Phyllis is soooo reasonable, and she's doing my BP dresses. I'm nervous that there might be a bunch of changes needed....not to mention I hear they won't alter my slip if need be since I bought it elsewhere.

Is anyone planning on bringing their dress elsewhere for alterations? Personally I like the drive better from here to Bridal Elegance even though Baldwin is technically closer(I HATE Merrick Road!!!). But my sis has me worried here!!!

(sheesh I am posting an awful lot today!! Winter recess is really bringing the wedding obsession outta me!!! )

I wouldn't worry about the drive..you have to take your dress home at some point too don't you? if you don't feel comfortable with having your alterations done at Lillettes...I think Phyllis is a great alternative. I just read a bad review on here earlier about alterations done at Lillettes. did you read about that?

Yup, that's another reason I'm considering it.

I know, my sister is so silly! The dress is gonna be in a car several times!! Not just when I pick it up, but when I wear it too!

I am taking it elsewhere because I heard bad things about the alterations where I bought my dress.

I wouldn't worry about it - I'm taking my dress out too.

well, considering I priced both Lillette's & B.E. for alterations, I probably would go with bringing it to B.E.-

Lillette's has a $295 cap for alterations and they charge $100 for the bussel (and they told me $20 per button on the bussel).

B.E.- $175 cap for alterations- and that includes a simple bussel (straight up). Phyllis told me that more elaborate bussels cost more, but her prices are pretty moderate so I'm not worried!

Good luck with deciding!!

If you feel most comfortable taking the dress somewhere else....then why not?
Go with your instincts.

Hmmm . . . I never even thought of bringing it elsewhere to be altered, but that is a very good idea especially if it saves money. Also I have heard bad things about the alteration department at Lillettes.
