Re: Solo vocalist recommendations
I've been asking that for weeks and nobody has come up with any suggestions. I need the entrance song for the BP, for ME, the song for when we light the unity candle, and the song for when we all leave. I have NO clue what song the singer could sing

Re: Solo vocalist recommendations
Ladies,
As a singer, this is what I would recommend:
1. if you are getting married at a church, temple, etc. chances are someone there (i.e. the organist, etc.) knows someone that can sing and can refer you to someone.
2. i would try contacting the music departments at julliard, hofstra, or molloy. there are many music majors that sing privately for a nominal fee... a lot of these people are studying voice so they will be good.
3. have you thought about asking someone in your family or a friend? (if they can sing, of course!) 99% of the weddings i've sung at were for friends and family members. it was such an honor for me to be included. yes, they should be a good singer, but there's not need to hire a professional if you know someone that would be able to do it for you.
4. i would also look in the newspaper or Pennysaver... many musicians post ads for teaching lessons. if they're advertising that they teach voice, chances are they can also sing at weddings and the like....
GOOD LUCK!

oh and the singer will sing whatever YOU want them to sing. jsut be sure to give them the MUSIC (not just the words) by a mutually agreed time before the wedding.. like a week or 2 before. they are responsible for learning what you want sung if they don't already know it.

you could also try some of the Band/DJ companies to see if they have singers they contract out. Try some of the LIW vendors- at least you will know they do this all the time and may already know some of the songs you want.
