Soloists... Girls please help

I have the following questions regarding soloists.

1 - Who are you using?
2 - What will they sing?
3 - Please FM me the cost and contact info.

TIA

My soloist actually comes with the church! He's really good... even capable of singing 'You Raise Me Up', which is one of the songs we want sung during the mass. In fact, he's currently also trying to hook us up with a violinist, which I would also like for the ceremony. And, of course, we get the organist, too from the church. She's good, too. We're pretty lucky the people at our church are good... I've been to weddings where people's eyebrows go up with every mistake during 'Here Comes the Bride!'. Check with your church or synagogue or reception hall (depending on where you're having it) to see who they recommend. My church makes you pay for them if you use them or not, so you might as well get your money's worth! IF you DO have to get them, make sure you go to a mass when they are playing or singing to see if you want them.

Re: Soloists... Girls please help

This is coming from a soloist who has sung at several weddings....
1. your church shoudl privde you with a cantor that can sing the songs you want
2. if you don't like them or the church doesn't have a cantor for you to use, you can hire outside.

If you find an outside soloist Be prepared to pay from about $50.00 to $100.00 In my case, I've always sung for friends and family and that was part of my wedding gift to them. If you're really looking for someone you could start asking for recommendations from friends or family if they know anyone. I would also try local music schools... students often do this for a nominal fee... I used to do it in college... I would make $25.00 a Mass and I thought that was great. HAHAHA....

Re: songs.... many churches require that the music is religious in nature and NOT secular... a good cantor through a church will know all the church repotoire and will learn what you want if they don't already know it.

Hope this helps...FM me if you have questions.
GOOD LUCK!

I used a soprano soloist from Cappriccio Ensemble who was very good. She sang Con Te Partiro and Ave Maria. I'm not sure how much she costs alone since I had her as part of a quartet. The contact info for Cappriccio should be on the Vendors page
