Some advice from a very soon bride to be...

Hi girls, I wanted to post here because I think I can give some advice that may help you out, even if it is too late to help me. When I ordered my dress last July, it fit PERFECTLY. I ordered the sample size because if worse came to worse, I would maintain my weight and the dress would fit fine. Well, I worked out A LOT, and actually lost weight. But I ended up bulking up so much that I gained pecs. I went for my first fitting last week, and my dress didn't button up all the way. I had gained 2 inches in my chest and the dress only buttoned up my lower back. I can't let it out because they are french seams, so they have to take the buttons off the part that doesn't fit and add a corset. I am absolutely devastated. I loved all the buttons. I signed a contract at the bridal shop saying that the fit of the dress was my responsibility, because we went back and forth as to whether we should order as size up. So now I am stuck with the dress and it has to be changed. The moral of the story is: IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER ABOUT WHAT SIZE DRESS TO GET, ORDER A SIZE UP! They can always take a dress in, but they cannot always take a dress out. I hope this helps someone out there. I wish I had been given this advice when I was buying my dress.

Thanks for the advice. I know people that have ordered a size down hoping that it would inspire them to lose weight.... seems ridiculous for all of the $$!!

Im sure you will look great on your day!

Thank you so much for the advice

Sorry you had that happen to you

I ordered my dress last week and went down a size from when I first went to the Salon. I told them to keep it as is. Thank god I did

Thanks! I actually did order a size up! I fit perfectly into the sample size but when I was measured it came out a size bigger. So I figured better safe then sorry!

Just remeber girls, you know your body best and how your weight fluctuates. I ordered the dress size exact for the designers measurements, and the dress fit perfect a year later. But as the above poster said, it's easier to make a dress smaller than to make a dress bigger!

I am sorry too to hear what happened with your dress. When I ordered in March, I made sure that I order the same size as the sample because it fit with some space here and there. I could have gone one size smaller, but it's better to take out a size than try to add. Very important decision and such a good advice. Thank you for sharing
